Golden Apartments

Was für ein wunderschönes Apartment mit ALLEM was man braucht. Matea ist zudem eine tolle Gastgeberin. Wir hätten zu gern noch eine Nacht drangehangen, wenn es nicht schon ausgebucht gewesen wäre. Bisher unsere schönste Unterkunft in Kroatien! Unbedingte Empfehlung.

Clean and modern apartment. Easy access, with private and cosy terrasse. Simple check in / check out and nice staff. Excellent restaurant 10 meter from the apartment.

First of all I need to mention that our apartment was on the ground floor, facing east, so my review is not referring to the other apartments (maybe there were three in the same building, but I am not sure). Matea, the host lady, was very kind and she supported our stay as much as possible. She was perfect. She helped us with mosquito net, with extra bed and bedding. She suggested us great places to visit nearby (e.g. Bilo Beach - a must see).

First of all, the apartment is too small and the arrangement of the rooms is suboptimal. Booking.com stated that it has an area of 60 m2, and seemed to be suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. I can imagine that the apartment is ideal for a couple, or with a family with 1 kid. But definitely not for 2 adults and 2 kids. And the floorspace is maximum 50 m2, but I think it is even less. The walls are paper thin. We could hear every sound from the neighbor. The living room and the kitchen is one air space with a bizarre L shape. The bathroom is not okay: there is no window, but most of all there is no ventilation at all! After having a shower the bathroom was like the tropics. The kitchen was somewhat poorly equipped. Electric plugs were in the wrong place. The apartment was hot, and without air conditioning it was simply unbearable. It is not the fault of the apartment of course; it is just the local climate. The outdoor units of the air conditioners were loud, so you could choose that you are sleeping with closed windows (and sweat), or you open the windows and cannot sleep because of to the noise (and the mosquitoes). I really wanted to love this place. Really! But offering a somewhat low profile apartment with a high price is only attractive for the owner but not for the guests. Just some notes to the Booking.com guys: the photos about the apartment were misleading. Here is my advice: for buildings with multiple apartments it would be FAIR to show only those images that belong to the PARTICULAR apartment that is offered. Individually! We booked this place because at Booking.com it seemed spacious with sea view. In reality FROM THIS PARTICULAR APARTMENT we saw the wall of the closest building and a construction (big hole in the rocky soil). OK, I can imagine the answer: the current system at booking.com does not support this logic... Is that right? What about some improvements?
