Katama Retreat with Pool, Hot Tub & Coastal Luxury Near South Beach

This property is incredible! Every summer my family rents a house on the Vineyard and we have a traditional routine of going to all our favorite restaurants and destinations all around the island. This year was different, we did none of that and it was the best year ever! There’s so much to do on this playground of a property that nobody wanted to leave it. The backyard is enormous and in addition to the bocce ball court, we found every lawn game you could think of in the pool house. We organized a tournament playing games outside all day and at night we moved inside to play billiards, air hockey and ping pong. Every structure on the compound from the gym to the guest house is wired with Sonos sound systems that you can control with your phone. The outdoor kitchen/bar was my favorite. We made frozen margaritas all afternoon and the kids had a blast at Make Your Own Pizza Night as there’s a legit pizza oven attached to the outdoor grill. The property abuts a bird sanctuary and I highly recommend getting up early at least once to walk the nature trails and watch the sun come up over Katama Bay and Chappy(don’t worry, they have an espresso machine if you’re not a morning person). My only complaint, if you wanna call it that, is VRBO won’t allow bookings 1+ years out otherwise we would have already booked our Summer 2022 vacation. We had an unbelievable time at this house! The location is prime and the property itself is beautiful. We loved how close we were to the beach as well as Edgartown center. All of the amenities that were included were great and the house was so well kept upon our arrival. The owners were very responsive to any questions that we had which made us feel incredibly welcomed and comfortable. This vacation house exceeded all of the expectations that we had and we are hoping to stay again! Highly recommend!!

My family has had some great experiences through VRBO but nothing has compared to this house. The house is so big. gorgeous, beautifully furnished, immaculately clean, steps from South Beach, and the owner and caretaker were both incredibly nice and accommodating. The pool wasn’t open for the summer yet but we loved the outdoor entertainment area and pool house. We have already booked for summer 2022 and can’t wait to return and see it in the summertime!

Full disclosure, I am Simona’s husband Jake and she is the rental coordinator. She did not ask me to write a review. I am choosing to do one anyway because it was my first time at Watchmere and it has been a long time since I felt so relaxed, playful and like I am actually on vacation. Even though we both had to work during our time here, being able to look up see the sunlight steaming through all the many windows and all the green from the surrounding foliage. Or working outside on one of the upstairs porches, taking a break to walk the Huckleberry trails and see some cows along the way was a delight for this city boy. But the best was being able to take breaks and just dive into a warm pool/jacuzzi at will and just….let go and play. (Tons of lawn games and the game room were great as well). We barely left the home except to see the spectacular sunset on the ocean. Or go for a bike ride. Otherwise for two people that don’t drive, we were extremely happy just staying in. -Jake
