Casa Solmar - 2 bedrooms, 2 bahts, private pool, walking to beach and night life

We had a great stay at Casa Solmar. Vincent met us as we arrived which was around 10pm as we had a late flight, showed us around and kindly left us a bottle of water and beer in the fridge. He also offered to take us to the supermarket but we jumped in an UBER the next morning & went to ALDI to stock up. The location of the villa was excellent. A 10 min walk out the front to the left took you to the beach & old town & 10 min walk to your right took you to the marina. There is also a big supermarket & bar that serves food and has BBQ night on a Sunday and quiz nights, live music. The villa was clean & had everything we needed. The outside furniture needs updating which Vincent acknowledged & also the poolside lights weren’t working so it was too dark to sit out there at night but there is also a lovely little terrace out front with a table which we used regularly as it’s closer to the kitchen. The BBQ also needed a better clean, we weren’t fussed about using it but noticed it wasn’t very clean. The bath strangely didn’t have a plug but both showers worked great and the water pressure was good. Air con was great but we didn’t use it much as the villa does stay quite cool if you keep all the shutters closed. The living area has a futon which was but would benefit from a double sofa bed for more comfortable sleeping. The pool was great, clean and kids loved it. Slightly overlooked ,nothing major, they can’t see into the pool, just the dining area. Outside ideally needs more shade

Amazing from start to finish. Vincente greeted us and showed us round. Gave us great directions on how to get into old town, which is a 10 minute walk. The supermarket is 2 minutes away with a restaurant/bar next door that does an all you can eat bbq on a Sunday. This villa is in a great location with everything you will need. The pool is just perfect and where we spent most of our time. We will definitely be back

We had a great stay at the villa it’s was within walking distance to old town and the marina.Villa was clean and comfortable the pool was great for relaxing would be a bit deep for children.Vincent was very friendly and helpful would stay here again

Firstly I will start with the positives, Vicente is an amazing host-We had an issue with the pool and hesorted asap-the house could be described as traditional Portuguese in decoration however it is looking very tired &needs small remedial works doing to bring it to a good standard .tile chips everywhere but potentially dangerous on the stairs The pool is great but there are cracked stones which need replacing. furniture & table around the poolside are all in need of replacement - the chairs are fraying, supposed white plastic ones look horrific - The table needs fixing. We didn’t use the BBQ so can’t comment however there are 3 parasol bases some of which are usuable but the worst is the parasol umbrella themselves which were full of mold.Why even have these available?There are weedsThere are 2 bathrooms in the property - one has a bath but there is no plug to use the bath. There is a 1st aid sign above another rusty shelf but no box The toilet seat is absolutely rank. The 2nd bathroom the shower&enclosure are brilliant BUT seriously why would you put/leave a rusty old, filfthy toilet brush and roll holder in there as this was not a great first impression! Get rid of ornaments & flowers as this would improve 1st impression in lounge.kitchen has everything you require I’m not sure if this place has been left to rot due to previous unpleasant holiday makers that Vicente relayed to us with a number of horror stories
