A fantastic opportunity to stay in a historic castle gatehouse.

A fabulous location in an historic gatehouse to Borgharen Castle. Stylish artwork and design and a very nice self serve breakfast was left for us.

It has a spiral wooden staircase to the bedroom no not for the unfit or unsteady, but not a problem for us.

Perfect accommodation and location

The location was perfect, and the surroundings were peaceful and relaxing. Situated in grounds of the castle, which is stunning. Fantastic public transport service and found the bus drivers to be so helpful. People are very friendly and helpful. Owners of accommodation were fantastic, meeting us on arrival and making us very welcome. The city of Maastricht is such a beautiful city. We will certainly be returning to Maashrict and to this beautiful accommodation.

This one of a kind accommodation is a must for those that prefer unique experiences.

We loved the host and her husband. We were provided with more food than we could eat and it was of the highest quality. To stay in a real castle gatehouse was the most unique and exciting experience we have ever had. We were even allowed to go inside the castle which is being renovated to it’s historical beginnings. There are lots of beautiful wood winding steps between the 3 floors, but my husband and I had no problems and we are in our early 70s. Hope to return in the future! We took bike rides around the village and out into the beautiful countryside. Oh, and the moat circling the castle was something this American has never seen. I cannot praise this accommodation enough. We use bus and bike transportation. So easy! Irene from North Carolina USA

Exceptional

I had a beautiful time whilst I stayed here. The building was incredible and the attention to detail and the decor was outstanding. The grounds were extensive and the property was only a short car/ride to the city centre. Both hosts were amazing and extremely friendly. The breakfast was outstanding and very tasty. I would highly recommend and look forward to coming back soon!

Peaceful, historic location with the warmest of welcomes and magnificent breakfast

Hostess was wonderfully welcoming and included lovely touches like fresh flowers and chocolates. The breakfast was amazing, and honestly as we don't eat much that one meal provided enough for us for lunch and dinner too. We loved the position of the gatehouse and the fact we had the estate grounds virtually to ourselves after the workers working on the castle restoration had left for the day. Appreciated the fine old trees on the estate, the wood pigeons and herons. And enjoyed the host's tour of the castle - a magnificent but huge undertaking to restore it to it's former glory inside. The location close to the river offers up good walks locally.

It didn't bother us but it's worth noting that of course in such a characterful old and cosy building, the staircase is a winding spiral oak one connecting the floors so someone without good mobility may find it difficult to use.

Magnificent stay

The hostess was very nice, she made us feel very welcome, gave us a few tips to visit and made an amazing breakfast! The apartment itself was beautiful, with a downstairs kitchen, a cozy bedroom on the 1st floor and a beautiful living room on the 2nd with views to a church and castle Borgharen and a bathroom with a lovely frensh bath. Really loved it!

Fanstastic stay

We had an amazing stay at the gate house. The interior was beautifully decorated and modern. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming and made sure that we were well taken care of during the whole stay. The breakfast was copious with lots of cheese, fruit, juice, bread, yogurt, etc... We will definitely go back!

De foto’s liegen er niet om, het was zelfs in het echt nog mooier. Geweldige ligging fijne parkeerplaats heerlijke accommodatie. Koninklijk verbleven! Stond een breed scala aan ontbijt opties klaar.

Sfeervol uniek verblijf, net buiten Maastricht.

Heerlijk weekendje weg op een uitzonderlijke locatie. Het gebouw is van binnen prachtig en heeft een uitstekende sfeer. Er was een zeer uitgebreid ontbijt voor ons klaargezet, met allerlei lekkernijen. In de ochtend was het voor ons iets te fris om buiten te zitten, maar in de middagzon konden we heerlijk ontspannen in de kasteeltuin.

Het bed was nog steeds prima, maar het was het enige dat net iets minder was dan de rest.

Het Poortgebouw van kasteel Borgharen is een aanrader (wanneer je goed ter been bent).

De locatie, de overdekte parkeerplek en de bezichtiging van het kasteel.

We hadden de pech dat het erg koud was. En dan merk je dat het gebouwtje niet echt ontworpen is om te bewonen. Hoewel er in de vertrekken voldoende elektrische radiatoren zijn.
