    The bed is top-tier. My flight got cancelled, and I was already extremely exhausted. The bed was incredibly comfortable and really helped me feel refreshed.

    Great room, shower etc, super comfy. But really slow internet, even with a strong wifi connection in my room. Strange for a business class hotel that wasn’t that cheap. Should have blazing fast internet. Instead it barely managed to download files, updates or shows for my flight.

    I arrived and mentioned in native German that I had a reservation and wanted to check in and gave my name and a very confused looking receptionist just shrugged his shoulders and another had to come to his aid and wanted to make a reservation for me. We got that resolved. I had a one night reservation at the hotel to attend a funeral and arrived at 11:30am. I knew I arrived before check in time which was at 2pm and was offered to pay $15 an hour prior to check in. I mentioned I had to be at the funeral at 2 so I couldn’t wait until and was willing to do the surcharge. They did offer me a flat fee of *** which I appreciated. However, I have been at do many 4-5 star hotels that never charge for early check in if the room is available. The room was large and clean but there was one very average size bath towel, one pillow, a flimsy duvet, one coffee cup, no bath amenities like shower cap or cleaning pad or Q tips which are standard. No pen or paper. Slippers but no bathrobe. Yes, I may be able to request all that, but that takes time and a good expensive hotel provides it right anyway to make the stay comfortable and convenient. And a tiny room safe that did not even accommodate a laptop. So I had to take my laptop with me as I could not secure it. I mentioned it at reception that the safes are really useless and was offered to have my laptop stored in the hotel safe which I gladly accepted. When I returned late in the evening and wanted to get my laptop, it took more than 25 minutes as the front desk staff and the manager could not find the key to the hotel’s safe. I was told for 20 minutes that someone is calling the daytime manager to ask where the key is. I couldn’t belief the incompetence that they needed 20 minutes for a call that should take 2 minutes top and that they didn’t know how to open the safe in the first place. Just wonder How they would act in an emergency. I couldn’t make a second cup of coffee using a fresh cup the next morning, the bathroom is clearly designed for men with no hair and makeup and the service is incompetent. Given the bad service, it is totally overpriced and overrated. Not a place I’d recommend or return to. If I want a no frills hotel, I will not stay at a Steigenberger hotel again
