We arrived at A&V Villa in the second week of May for a 5 night stay. Host Eugenia was continually in touch and checking our flight arrival times, hire car pick-up progress etc. so that she could be at the Villa to meet us on arrival. She was amazing and generous throughout with her local tips, restaurant and parking suggestions. She proceeded to give us a full villa tour explaining all the features. In addition to the three main villa bedrooms, there is a separate lower self-contained flat with double bed, sofa, tv and the washing machine. Despite the ever-present risk of wind and volcanic dust, the villa was spotless, primarily due to the efforts of Dora the housekeeper, who, to our delight, also prepared breakfast for us on our first two days - simple, delicious and in some cases home-cooked dishes at whatever time we requested. We hadn’t realised when booking that breakfast was included, so when a local winery head chef Argie turned up to prepare our final three days’ breakfasts, the delight continued - daughters raved about the best rocket & mushroom salad they’d ever tasted :). Dora also magically washes laundry on site each morning for you. Basics were available - filter coffee, milk, salt, pepper, oil and some herbs, plus first day water. You’ll need to buy a lot if you want to avoid drinking salty tap water. One cooler day of light rain didn’t diminish our enjoyment. We spent two days mainly at home enjoying the chilly water of the pool, the warmth of the hot tub, the fantastic sunrises, the BBQ, the multiple sitting out areas, the balconies, and sofa areas for Netflix later at night. You should definitely hire a car to stay here and get around the island. It’s conveniently mid-island so Oia to the north and Akrotiri to the south are both about 20 minutes away. There is a fantastic family-run new local food restaurant to the right of the main road entrance, past the handy Lidl, called To Tsoukali!
A few minor issues with the villa that can be easily fixed and didn’t spoil our stay: Downstairs shower needs holding by hand as holder missing; pool umbrellas made of what looks like hessian rope very heavy, dusty, tired looking; pool deck needs a once-over to fix slats, check screws/nailheads; main lounge TV remote “down” volume doesn’t work - searching online I found that on the bottom left of the TV there is a raised knob that can be manipulated to manually access volume control; WiFi outside patchy-to non-existent - but that’s okay, you’re supposed to be enjoying the views and air! Buses unreliable and don’t always go where you want to; taxi’s extortionate. Limited number of taxis mean that everywhere, incl. on Uber app is minimum EUR 30 per trip, and more likely EUR 40. We couldn’t get a bus from Oia to Imerovigli direct, had to change buses in Fira. Mid-May was not that busy but midday we had to wait for 30 minutes to board coach/bus from Oia to Fira.

Dora and Euginia are amazing! The house is even better than the photos. Dora’s breakfast was delicious each morning and Euginia was so sweet to bring me a present on my birthday. I would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Santorini.
