About this house rental

HOUSE RULES: (Note: Max of 6 adults for overnight stays, including children) - No large gatherings or parties allowed. **Discount for weekly & monthly stays**

Super clean newly renovated year around 2+ bedroom (upstairs), full basement ranch style lake home tucked up on a small hill overlooking Island Lake, ON A BACK LOT. It’s less than 500 feet to the public access where you will find a nice well-kept boat landing (with free DNR public access parking) and it also has a small beach for public swimming in the summer. In the winter it has plowed roads on and off the lake for ice fishing. Arrangements can be made for special plowing on lake in winter for ice houses. Contact us for pricing. (Avg. $100)

The cabin has a “L” shaped wraparound deck, to enjoy the sounds of nature and watch the sunset. We have a large private fire pit area right out the cabin's door for making smores and telling stories.

We are surrounded by wildlife; lots of mature trees & around many trails, used by bird hunters, ATV’s and snowmobilers. Island Lake is full of many fish – boating, kayakers & canoers enjoy this lake in the summer/fall months & ice fishing, 4 wheeling and snowmobiling are very popular in the winter months ... We offer a 2 person kayak, 2 paddles, kayak carrier and 2 adult life jackets for use with the cabin - we are not responsible for personal injuries using the kayak.

The cabin has two levels. (Steps to get in cabin & grass/ground around our property may be unleveled - Please use caution) The main floor features a living room with a full size couch and 2+ chairs. The kitchen, is equipped with filtered water spout, drinking, eating/cooking utensils, drip coffee maker w/ filters, toaster, baking sheets, pots and pans along with a dining table, enough seating for 6-7 people. We DO NOT provide an iron or an ironing board - Please plan accordingly. Also on the main floor is the bathroom, with toilet, step up tub/shower, along with a nice vanity. Cabin has Well water and septic. All the linens /towels are provided and cleaned for the kitchen, bed, & bath. Bedroom #1 has a queen size sleep number bed and bedroom #2 has a full size / twin size combo bunk bed, and an extra twin foam mattress on floor under the bunk beds for use. we have open stairs. For safety, you will need to bring your own gate for small children. We outfit the cabin with a few adult/children's games, books & magazines & don't forget the VHS/DVD collection if you want to snuggle up and watch movies! We offer Dish Network, 1 Roku stick & high-speed internet. The lower level features an electric fireplace in the living room which has a full size couch & futon. The Den has a full size softer style bed. (Ideal for 1) (2 small windows, NOTE: no egress window in this room). There is also a large tiled storage / laundry room equipped with a washer and dryer. Outside, the deck wraps around so you can watch the sunset and listen to the wildlife. We supply a few chairs for sitting and 2 lounge chairs plus a black stone griddle/BBQ gas combo grill. Please bring your own outdoor blankets and towels for lakes fun & swimming. Towels/blankets we provide are to be used “indoors”

A Winter stay is the quietest time of the year (most other cabins on the lake are seasonal - this cabin is year around, with new windows and doors) . Since we are so close to the public access, getting on and off the ice is a breeze. We do offer plowing if needed for ice houses. (Contact for pricing. avg. $100+) With snowmobile trails close by guests can hop right on their snowmobiles for a day on the trails. ATVs are welcome here as well and with our small tuck under garage and shed to store them in at night, it couldn’t be easier. In the Summer and Fall Months, Itasca State Park, is around 25 miles away – it has breath taking views with many walking and bike trails. They rent bikes, kayaks, boats and other water toys. This is a must see!

If you’re in the mood for someone else to cook for you and want to have a few drinks, there is a bar/restaurant (Ruff Grouse Roadhouse) less than a mile down the road. They also have 6 pm Bingo on Monday and Friday Nights and offer 30+ slot machines for a little gambling. (Since Covid some area bars/Restaurants have changed in services/hours/activities - an info listing on nearby restaurants and stores are located in the house binder) This cabin is ready for family memories for years to come!

We found this by chance and are so happy we did. They had everything we needed for a smooth vacation and the kids loved it. The fire pit was a great touch and the kayak was a definite plus. 10/10 we’ll be back for sure.

Stayed with my family for the all school reunion and was a nice place to stay. Close enough to activities but enjoyed the lake as well.
