Step into a beautifully and tastefully remodeled beach cottage with original wooden floors, lovely mid century details, solid Carerra marble bathroom, and redwood deck. Open living space with dual sliders to redwood deck, one full bedroom with one convertible dining room open to kitchen that sleeps additional 2 people, and sleeper bed in living room along with couches for plenty of comfort and entertaining potential. We like to think of ourselves as a authentic historic cabin. If you want total luxury and bling this likely isn’t for you, but if you want an authentic original cottage with 100 year charm and rustic features like original plank flooring, and lots of character we think you’ll like what we have for you. What a sweet cottage! We loved it. Close to coast, shops, and grocery markets. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the wood burning stove on the chilly nights. Thank you!

Our family of four (two boys, ages 14 & 10) visited Casa Blowdega for a quick two-night summer coastal getaway and couldn't have been happier. Stephen was an excellent host who made himself available at all times via text. He almost always responded within five minutes or less. The house itself was clean and had everything we needed. It's got a rustic/lived-in feel -- which honestly my wife and I prefer for family beach trips because one doesn't feel great trudging wet items and loose sand into an immaculate space with a bunch of new/fancy furnishings, etc. The location was excellent as well. It's located on a court right in the middle of town that makes it an easy 5-7 minute drive to pretty much anywhere in Bodega Bay. We had a great time and would 100 percent stay there again.

We absolutely loved this little historical gem. This home is tucked in a sweet and quiet neighborhood, centrally located, super clean, has comfy blankets and sheets, and is thoughtfully decorated. The host was fabulous and very kind. We hope to be back soon!

The back house, with the driveway on the left, was cozy with amazing mid-century modern furniture. I was wondering if the 3 sofas could be re-arranged to surround the coffee table to make a conversation pit and still be able to watch TV (if you do, that is). Open end of the conversation pit would be to the back sliders heading out to the porch. The house was full of character and enjoyed exploring all the rooms. The weather was cold and overcast with the sun showing up in the evenings but we did not mind. We figured out heating right away and it was all good. Honestly the cooler temps had us sleeping really well along with the adventures we went on all over Sonoma & Marin county. Stunning views everywhere we went in Bodega Bay and beyond. I would come back again as the location is quiet with lots of good food close by. There is also a grocery nearby in case your forgot anything. I miss seeing the purple & periwinkle conical flowers by the side of the road - pride of madeiras? I always knew we were close to the house once we started to see them going north after the un-manned one-lane traffic light. Stephen was very responsive with all my questions and respectful of our privacy. Thank you for our lovely stay!

Title says it all. Property manager was also really helpful and personable. He told us about potential traffic due to road construction so that was very helpful as we were driving to the stay already. Overall loved it.

The cottage is close to a bait and tackle shop where we got pizza two nights in a row and close to the beach and hikes.

My daughters and I needed a quick get-away. We came in late, got lost, and Stephen was awesome at helping us get to the house. It was quiet and nice. Thank you, Stephen!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Casa Blowdega. As other reviewers have stated, it is not on the water and does not have an ocean view. However the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The house has its quirks: no central heat (portable room heaters and a woodstove), small bedroom ( no nightstands, no dresser or drawers), no counter space in the bathroom. But the house is comfortable, clean, and tasteful.

We really enjoyed our time at Steve’s house. He kept in contact with us before and during our visit and made sure we had everything we needed. The place is well equipped and really clean. It’s not fancy but very comfortable. It’s an original fisherman’s cabin and has a great feeling about it. We were able to make use of the Sonoma Parks Pass multiple times. Very cool!!! If you’re looking for a base to do some fishing or exploring in the area, this is the place. Highly recommend!!Thanks Steve, we’ll be back soon.

I cannot recommend Stephen Boyd's cottage highly enough! Stephen was, without a doubt, the best host I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. His warm and welcoming energy perfectly matched the serene beauty of the cottage. From the moment I arrived, I felt an instant sense of peace and relaxation, which was exactly what I needed after a stressful few weeks.
The cottage itself is a dream—a cozy yet spacious retreat surrounded by breathtaking nature. The attention to detail in every corner of the home reflects Stephen’s dedication to creating a sanctuary for his guests. The property offered everything I needed: a fully equipped kitchen, luxurious linens, and a clean, inviting space that felt like home away from home.
Stephen went above and beyond to ensure my stay was unforgettable. His thoughtful touches and personalized recommendations for local spots—made my experience feel extra special. It was clear that he genuinely cares about his guests and their well-being.
This isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a place to reset, refresh, and reconnect with yourself. I’ve already decided this will be my go-to spot whenever I need a retreat, and I look forward to returning again and again. Thank you, Stephen, for sharing your beautiful space and your incredible energy. If you’re considering booking, don’t hesitate—this is the getaway you’ve been searching for!

Stephen was great to work with. The home was clean, cozy and in a great location. My wife and 3 children really felt comfortable when we were in the house. With a family of 5 there was just enough space to spread out during the time we were actually in the house. At night, my wife and I slept in the bedroom and each child got a couch. We just brought Sleeping bags for the kids . The place had a nice touch of old decor and modern updates. We will definitely stay there again and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Bodega Bay.

Your host will not disappoint! Steve was on top of everything and what an authenticity genuine person! He loves the area and it shows!
The description of this VRBO is spot on so please don’t expect more. We love “old town” quaint and sometimes quirky, this VRBO fit the bill.
Thanks for everything, Steven!

The listing is as it says. Stephen is very nice and super repsonsive. The kitchen is very basic but it served our needs for coffee in the morning and making a pasta dinner. Bath room is small but adequate. Since it was just my husband and I , i put my cosmetic bag on the dinnig table.
Bed was very comfortable and the location is very quiet at night.

We loved the mid-century modern furniture and decor. The beach cottage was clean and cozy. The back deck was a good place to enjoy morning coffee and the cool, clean air. My friend and I thought the front entrance pergola and planter could use an update - as it would truly be a nice welcoming.

My wife and I love the Sonoma Coast and the west county (Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Petaluma, Bodega, etc.). We were looking for a central place to stay for several weeks while we explored, visited friends, and absorbed the general vibes. We were not disappointed. The property reminded me of a cabin I rented in Cape Cod years ago: a bit rustic with a lot of history, walking distance to everything I need, and the nicest owner. It looks just like the photographs. My wife in particular liked the washer/dryer, the refrigerator, the stove, the sheets, and the patio. It's about 20 minutes to the supermarkets in Sebastopol, and the scenery between the two is dynamic and beautiful. We left relaxed and energized.

We enjoyed the quiet and cozy home. We could walk down to the store easily and the drive to the ocean beach is not too far. The bed was comfortable and the shower/bath worked well. The bathroom sink could use a better hot water, otherwise all was very nice!
