Finca la Manchuria - Authentic and Original VIP Coffee Lodge - 2h from Medellín

We had a very nice time at Manchuria. The property is in the mountains near Salgar, about a 20 minute drive up a twisting and steep dirt road off the main roadway. Make sure you have a tall vehicle. We did not, but the staff at the property were very accommodating by letting us leave our cars down below at their office building in a safe parking lot and taking us and our luggage up in one of their SUVs. The views from the property are incredible, and the pool was a great way to spend the afternoons. The staff took care of all our needs from cooking to lighting a bonfire for us at night to playing music for us and even singing for us! Tatiana was excellent! We had our 91-year old grandmother with us, and she took care of all her needs during our stay. We hiked up to the next property one day (also owned by the same people) and the staff there were waiting for us with water and juice and welcomed us onto the property with a greeting and a smile. We opted to have all our food prepared for us by the house. Everything was delicious and the menu was customized for us based on our needs, even including a separate menu for 91-year-old grandma. The beds were all clean and very comfortable. Sleeping to the sounds of rain and waking up with the sounds of nature was very relaxing. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would definitely return. A few notes for improvement: 1. We were a large group of 13 staying for two nights, and our rooms were not cleaned for the entire stay. It would have been nice to have had fresh towels, sheets, etc. for our second day. 2. The trash cans in each bathroom are not too hygienic. You have to touch the lid to open them. Considering that soiled toilet paper has to go into the trash can, there should be a hands-free way to throw out toilet paper. 3. Four people in our group fell ill with food poisoning the second night. It is important that the property ensure proper cold food handling, wash all fruits and vegetables with filtered water, and prepare all foods and drinks with filtered water and to proper temperatures. Overall, I would definitely recommend the property. With a few adjustments, Manchuria could go from excellent to perfect!
