Dorothy kept in touch with me and her and Alan were there to greet us on arrival and hand over the keys. However, an alternative arrangement had been made had they not been in.
The cottage was beautiful, clean, comfortable and had amenities and essentials. The outdoor space though was breathtaking!
We didn't hear a thing from Dorothy and Alan next door.

The property was cosy snd clean! And lovely touches such as fresh flowers and homemade shortcake.
It was sometimes a little cold, but as long as we put the heaters on it warmed up after a bit.

We loved our stay at Hillis Close Farm Cottage. It was a very comfortable place to return to after a day of exploring the area. The bed is comfortable and the cottage was clean & well equipped. Lovely garden in a very pretty area. Haltwhistle is a short drive away and there are lots of options for dinner there. The cottage also has a good kitchen for preparing meals. The owner made delicious shortbread for us which was lovely. The wifi was good & there’s lots of games and books & dvds and information about the local area provided.

Very pretty and cosy cottage, sparkling clean with everything we needed for a three night stay - cooking and washing facilities etc. all in good order; books and games provided as well as homemade shortbread on arrival which was very much enjoyed. Had a great sleep every night thanks to the peaceful location and large and comfortable bed. Highly recommended.

Our second year booking Hillis Farm Cottage.
We came back because of the lovely warm welcome )fresh shortbread to go with your first cup of tea or coffee), fabulous location in the countryside. Not far from Hadrian's Wall
The facilities are very comfortable. Great showers after a hard day of walking or working. Small but well kitted out kitchen. Beds with nice mattresses.
The only (very tiny) issue was the TV. The connection to SKY and Netflix kept dropping. Can still get Freeview.
Not a problem if you want a break from media.

A lovely little cottage in a very quiet area. The hosts were so helpful and we were greeted with some lovey homemade shortbread upon arrival.
The cottage was clean and cosy.
We were lucky enough to have nice weather so took advantage of that to explore some local walks.
We had a clear sky one night and the stars were amazing.
Would definitely book again.

A cosy cottage. It was a no frills property but was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
It was also lovely to arrive to shortbread, milk in the fridge and a fire already lit for our arrival with ample firewood and coal.
It took us a bit of trial and error in order to keep the stove going for heating/hot water!

A great quiet location location in the countryside.
Accommodation was clean, tidy and homely. There was a lovely welcome pack. Dorothy greeted us on arrival and gave us a run-down on the property.
The location is in close proximity to Hadrians Wall and museum.
A lovely place to stay.

Delightful cottage to stay in. So cosy and comfortable. We really enjoyed our couple of nights here. Located on a working farm in beautiful countryside. Not far from a section of Hadrian's Wall. The children loved seeing the farm animals and the hosts were very friendly.
Nothing - it was lovely.

Owner made shortbread as a welcome, really nice touch. They have the adjoining cottage but didn't see them apart from arrival.
Lovely coal fire and fuel provided, both rooms en suite (toilet cannot be locked from inside though).
Well equipped cottage and would go back.

A charming, very well equipped cottage with everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The hosts were lovely, on hand if we needed them (we didn't), but very discreet. A very comfortable bed. Linen and towels provided were of high quality. Quiet location with stunning views.

We loved this place! We had the best time with our little babies.
The house is very easy to find and the communication with Dorothy before arrival was fantastic. We told them at what time we were arriving and the fireplace was on for us.
The book located in the living room explains everything you need to know about the house and the surroundings.
The house has a lovely cottage garden. The kitchen is totally equipped with lots of attention to detail (oil, salt, foil, etc). The rooms were spacious and the beds super comfortable. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom.
They got a cot and a highchair available for the little ones.
The location is perfect and the views from the house are something from another world!
It is a working farm with beautiful cows that our children adore. Alan was so friendly and treated us so well.
I definitely want to come back and would recommend it to anyone.
I liked everything.

The host was friendly, and was there to greet us when we arrived. The house is a lovely little property on a working farm (so there are farm animals and a lot of mud, as expected!). The house is small but functional, with a small well equipped kitchen, with coffee and even a small milk kindly provided. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were also clean. No shower gel or soap (other than antibacterial hand soap) was provided, which is not a negative, just a heads up if you were to stay. The fire heats the water and the heating, and we did let the fire die a bit prematurely on one night so it did get cold. The host was happy to assist if necessary, however we got it going again no problem.
The location is beautiful. It's drive or hike, there is nothing within a short walk distance (and no footpaths) although if you're looking to stay here, you're probably looking for this sort of thing!
The only negatives were that there were small spots of mould (especially in one of the kitchen cupboards) and clearly there are bits of damp damage, although there doesn't seem to be any active damp. I am susceptable to respiratory issues and could feel it affecting me slightly. However, this is not unexpected in an older property!

Loved the homely nature of the property and the fact that it's very much ' in the middle of nowhere'. Friendly local pub but although walkable didn't fancy walking back in the dark. Great to have a log burner as don't have one at home and comprehensive instructions from owners made it easy to operate. Close to Haltwhistle and Hadrians wall which was the reason for our stay. Apart from a friendly welcome didn't see the owners at all, loved the complimentary delicious shortbread which was a nice touch. Would definitely return
Wasn't really anything to dislike. Would be great to have a shaver point in one of the bathrooms if ever refurbishing

It was lovely to have milk already in the fridge, fire already under way and also shortbread on our arrival. Nice touch.
I don't think the water pressure was at it's best but manageable.
