We were looking for a old world cottage and that’s what we had. Beautiful garden, very quiet area, very nice landscape, English from top to bottom. We were hiking, excellent location, visiting chippy Norton, beautiful, lively and good grocery (sainsbury and a lovely organic food store„oats“ eg) hook Norton is lovely, brewery, Sinn inn…, we went to Oxford, Broadway tower , a little children’s farm.. lovely too!and in the middle: quiet oasis blue row! Thanks for having us

Filthy dirty. The photos on your website did not match the actual property. The garden was overgrown, couldn’t sit out in it. The house was filthy. Had to clean it thoroughly before we could put our bags inside. The oven was putrid. Had to scrub it. The towels were like sandpaper to dry yourself on. The beds and pillows hard and uncomfortable. In one bathroom I had to step into the bath, then pull a cord to work the shower! Both sets of stairs un safe to use. Lounge old and uncomfortable! Washed crockery, cutlery and glassware before use, all dirty . House stunk! The best thing we did was leave and go else where after two days. Don’t stay there!!!

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It is well-appointed, private and set in beautiful surroundings. Good grocery options within a 10 minute drive. Walkable to 2 pubs (bring a flashlight though in case you are out late!). Would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

English Heaven
English Heaven
My wife and I cannot say enough about our stay at this lovely cottage. We chose this location as our get away while attending the Formula One race at Silverstone. It is peaceful, quiet and full of English charms. With cows greeting us from the field next door to sheep in the meadow, it is an idyllic cottage for a laid back experience. Walking paths are adjacent for the adventurous and the single track roads leading into Swerford add something special that illicit a step back in time to a slower, more measured pace of life. Swerford is a small, well kept village with beautiful gardens and window boxes that display the owners desire to keep natures color at the forefront of well maintained stone cottages. The Blue Row cottage is not only full of English cham but is complete with all amenities as described but also bookshelves filled with history, pleasure reading and an armful of local activities and site seeing opportunities. My favorite was a grand book on walking trails though out England that is incredibly detailed. Chipping Norton is a short drive away and has everything that is needed for groceries, coffee shops and old world pubs.
The hosts took great care with follow up communication, suggestions and instructions; that made us not only feel at home but also to make us aware that they wanted us to enjoy their little slice of heaven. Our family has traveled to many locations around the globe and use home hosting sites as our gateway to experience other cultures. The hosts of Blue Row did perhaps the best welcoming experience of our many experiences.
Special thanks to the caretaker; Bonnie, who came in early to greet us and made us feel as though we had been friends for years.
Thank you for everything. It was a memorable time and one we will cherish forever. It is on our list as a place to return to.

Dream Cottage
Dream Cottage
A week in the Cotswolds in a quiet little village; sound like a dream? It was. This is an OLD cottage but has every convenience that you would need. The OLD part is the charm as inside and outside is like something out the the movie "The Holiday", but without the snow (for us at least). Birds were chirping as the garden was slowing coming into full bloom and cows and sheep could be heard in the distance. Pheasants would appear on our many walks through this picturesque part of the country.
This is a small village of about 20-30 houses, very quiet and minimal traffic. There are no shops or pubs here but Hook Norton is a 20 minute walk either along the road or through the paths that are clearly marked (lovely walk) to a shop that has all of your needed groceries and wine and beer. Less that 10 minutes gets you there by car and there is a pub there and 2 butchers.
An easy walk to the Boxing Hare, finds you at an upscale pub that does not disappoint. A little further away is the Falkland Arms, a 4-500 year old pub that has character and great food.
The cottage is a great base to explore the area whether 1/2 an hour away or slightly more. Apple Play GPS on the car makes it easy to track down your new favorite villages.
The cottage was perfect with lots of directions and with help from their assistant Bonnie a great spot to stay. Bonnie was not only a super nice person but in this case a life saver and now a new friend. Heart of Gold.
Anything I would change? Nothing comes to mind.
This was a great spot and we would not hesitate to re-book.

Our first trip to England and the Cotswolds
Our first trip to England and the Cotswolds
The cottage was everything advertised and the location was perfect for touring the Cotswolds. Bonnie was able to let us check in early which was greatly appreciated after a long flight from Atlanta. The cottage had everything we needed and was very cozy and quiet. We were within 10-30 minutes driving distance of many of the small towns my wife wanted to visit with Chipping Norton right down the road. We even had nice weather with lots of sun and very little rain during our weeks stay. We made one trip into London and saw all of the things we wanted to see. There are many hidden gems not far from Swerford such as all of the local footpaths we came across and the the views of the sunset at the Rollright Stones in West Oxfordshire. Thank you Sheila and Bonnie for offering us this cottage for our much needed family vacation where we were able to relax and enjoy what England has to offer

The owner was extremely helpful prior to the holiday providing lots of information to help us get the most from our stay. We were met at the cottage by the friendly housekeeper who had put up Christmas decorations. The cottage is in a quite location but only a short distance from Chipping Norton with good facilities.

Lock down relief
Lock down relief
This was our first trip away after months of lockdown. It was hugely enjoyable. The cottage is set in a lovely quiet village in the countryside. It’s a beautiful location with wildlife all around. The cottage is well equipped with a surprising amount of space. As restaurants and pubs were only open for outside dining (and it was cold!) we catered for ourselves and spent cosy evenings after long walks in the comfortable lounge. We are both so grateful for the chance to experience a restful week away from our locked down lives.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful cottage. Lovely and cosy, comfortable, full of character, but with all the mod cons we expect nowadays. Beautifully maintained and well-equipped. We also had amazing weather for February! We sat in the garden for some of our meals – just unbelievable. Great walks over to Hook Norton (among other places) where we ate lunch and drank Hooky beer in the Sun Inn. A lovely week in a quiet relaxing part of the world – just what we needed for our short break – shame it wasn’t longer. We’ll be back!

Pleasant quiet cottage compromised by kerosene odour
Pleasant quiet cottage compromised by kerosene odour
With character charm, a verdant garden and situated in a quiet village, this property promises so much. Unfortunately, our experience of staying here for a week in September 2018 means for us we cannot recommend it.
The property’s main drawback was the kerosene fuelled hydronic heating system. The boiler is housed inside and emits kerosene vapours into the laundry cupboard where it is located. These vapours permeate the entire cottage with the rooms adjacent to the boiler most affected. When the boiler is operating, the cottage is unpleasant to occupy due to this kerosene odour.
The owners are aware of the issue. While they were responsive to our concerns, the odour devices they provided to assist with the smell did not resolve the underlying issue to our satisfaction.
Lows: Kerosene odour, washing machine not functioning properly, clutter, no clothes drying rack
Highs: Garden, charming cottage, space for a family: lounge, kitchen/dining plus three bedrooms and two bathrooms and separate laundry, great wifi

Beautiful cottage in a charming vllage
Beautiful cottage in a charming vllage
Four of us had planned to walk the first 50 miles of Shakespeare's Way (a 150-mile track followed by Shakespeare from Stratford-upon-Avon to The Globe Theatre in London), from Stratford to Woodstock.
Blue Row Cottage in Swerford was the ideal location at the half-way point of the 50-mile stretch, which we walked in four one-day segments.
This charming cottage is extremely well appointed and, with its two bathrooms, was just what we two couples needed to refresh ourselves after our day's exertions.
The weather was fine and we were able to eat some of our meals - and drink our coffees - in the beautiful sheltered garden.
There are wonderful views of the church and the remains of the ancient motte and bailey castle from the upstairs windows.
Stratford, Chipping Norton and Woodstock (for Blenheim Palace) are all within a short drive and there are many good places to eat nearby in the surrounding countryside.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay and may return some time to enjoy a little rest and relaxation at the cottage, rather than walking all day for four days.
Many thanks for an enjoyable experience.

Cotswolds hideaway
Cotswolds hideaway
A great historic cottage located in a tiny Cotswolds village only 6 miles from Chipping Norton. This cottage oozes character with tasteful period decor making it feel very welcoming and is fully equipped with everything you may need including WiFi. Peaceful and off the beaten track this is an ideal location from which to explore the Cotswolds towns as well as Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, Stratford etc. The only negative was a very poor mobile phone signal. Highly recommended.

Absolutely perfect Cotswolds holiday cottage. Outstanding customer service from owner.
Absolutely perfect Cotswolds holiday cottage. Outstanding customer service from owner.
Blue Row cottage exceeded all our expectations for our two week holiday. Charming, quiet village location with access to public pathways, it was also in close proximity to all the regional sites we wished to visit. The cottage was fully equipped and retained all its 200 year old charm while providing modern appliances and conveniences. The cottage owner could not have been more friendly or easy to work with.
We had three adults and two children in our group, but with three bedrooms, everyone had ample space and privacy.
We highly recommend this location for a Cotswolds holiday.

A lovely old cottage in a pretty, quiet village on the edge of the Cotswolds. The cottage is clean, warm, comfortable and well provided, with attentive owners who go out of their way to make sure you have enough information to make your stay easy. The surrounding countryside is tranquil and rolling, with peaceful (but muddy - take wellies!) walks between charming villages with lovely pubs and churches. Oxford, Blenheim and Stratford an easy drive away. Highly recommended for a peacful break in this lovely part of England

A beautiful Cotswold cottage - home from home
A beautiful Cotswold cottage - home from home
This is the loveliest cottage in the Cotswolds - a real home from home. Swerford is tucked away as a village - so wonderfully peaceful - but with easy access to all the Cotswold towns and villages. It feels like a real home but a thoughtfully appointed one. There is everything you could possibly need (including excellent wifi) and a well stocked kitchen. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable - we stayed in summer and climbing roses were nodding fragrantly outside our window. The garden is a haven and it was great to have two loos, one with a shower and one with a bath. A heavenly retreat - we will be back!

A small paradise in the countryside
Being a little picky on the atmosphere of the holiday houses we select we already expected much from Blue Row. In fact our expectations were even exceeded.
The house is very well and lovely equiped. This refers to the furniture, and accessoires as well as to all amities to relieve your stay: washing machine, dish washer, 2 ovens...
All was very clean and well kept including the garden.
The Organisation before was just perfect and I can't think of what I may have missed. Oh yes, there was something: as soon as we left we felt missing already the charming house and the tranquille garden.
IT was a wonderful place to be for the five of us (parents + 3 children)

Beautiful cottage in idylic setting - perfect!
A beautiful cottage with lots of character. Given Blue Row cottages have a 200 year history the owners have kept the charm of the cottage in its furnishing and decoration. It is cosy, spotlessly clean and has all the modern conveniences a family expects. It is in an idyllic village setting, with a lovely garden, in easy reach by car of Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and the pretty Cotswolds villages. Lots of helpful information sent before we arrived and plenty of information at the cottage of various places to visit. We spent a lovely week with our 2 teenagers exploring the area and wouldn’t hesitate to book the cottage again. We have spent time in lots of different cottages and places in the UK over the years and Blue Row is by far one of the best cottages we have stayed in – highly recommend!

A lovely combination of it's old character but with the mod cons we have come to appreciate. Felt like you were away from everything, the only noise we heard was that of the many birds who visited the lovely garden. Yet so many beautiful places were only a short drive away.
Everything was clean and ready for us. Instructions were very clear and helpful. As were the owners especially when I lost all my emails including the instructions. Sheila very kindly and speedily sent them all again.
The housekeeper was available in the event of any problems.
Overall a really lovely place to stay.

The cottage was wonderful, located in a great little village in the Cotswolds with easy connections to London as well. We stayed with our three (older) kids and had a wonderful time. "A Gem in the Cotswolds"
"A Gem in the Cotswolds"
We stayed at this property for 2 weeks. What a gem we found! The cottage is everything described in the information provided by the owner but much, much more! This property exceeded our expectations. Everything about it is of the highest calibre - well-appointed kitchen; lovely dining room looking out to a manicured garden; extremely comfortable beds and a sitting room with very comfortable sofas. Its location is ideal for day trips into many of the wonderful Cotswold towns and villages. The closest town, Chipping Norton, just a 10 minute drive away, has all the services we needed. A great supermarket at the Co-op, interesting boutique shops and even a Fair came to town during our stay.
Communication before we arrived with the owner was superb. Answers to our questions were immediately given and a significant flight delay creating a huge challenge with the arrival time at the cottage was handled efficiently and very professionally by the caretaker.
The village of Swerford is charming and very quiet which only adds to the beauty. Parking was very convenient just across from the front door. An information manual prepared for guests provided information on everything within the cottage as well as clear and concise facts about local attractions; places of interest; and food and beverage places.
We have stayed at many rental properties throughout Europe but this cottage excelled in every aspect. It is ideal for a couple or a small family. Blue Row Cottage is an exemplary property and offers a wonderful experience. We highly recommend it and if we are fortunate enough to return to the Cotswolds, we hope this cottage will be available.

We had a very beautiful time in Blue Row Cottage. The guides and leaflets in the cottage were very helpful, and we made some nice walks in and around Swerford. We enjoyed our trips to Waddesdon, Blenheim Palace and Warwick Castle. Also, we visited Oxford and old villages of the Cotswolds, like Bourton-on-the-Water and Stratford-upon-Avon. The cottage was very well equiped, it felt like home! Many thanks!

Blue Row Cottages in Swerford was perfect for our family of five. It had all the charm we were hoping for in a cottage in the Cotswolds. It also had all the amenities we needed (kitchen, television, wifi, laundry).
The cottage is next door to a lovely old church. Swerford is a tiny little village, but there are lots of pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, etc very close. If you can't find what you're looking for, you're not looking properly.
The owners put together a great information kit for tenants, which we found really helpful. We found places to eat, places to visit, walks to do.

We really enjoyed our stay at the 3 Blue Row cottage in Swerford. It was a week our home to where we went back to after exploring the Cotswolds. We really loved the views, "fields of gold", cottages, sheep, gardens, Manor's, ruins, shops, pubs and we surely plan to go back there to see some more. Also we had wonderful weather on our holidays so we could eat our lunch in the romantic back garden. It has got everything we needed, it’s comfortable, charming and up to date and we slept very well after our days of sightseeing. Thank you for letting us share the cottage. We also left a notice in your/it's guest book. Now that we are home the weather has changed to rainy days. Henk, Ermelinde & Gijs Peerlings, Belgium.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage, which was warm, well-equipped, comfortable, and beautifully situated in a quiet and peaceful village. The welcome pack gave lots of useful information about local shops and attractions, and the only frustration was that there were so many places that we didn't have time to visit. We hope to stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Row Cottage. The house is in a great location and was easy to find thanks to directions provided. The village of Swerford is beautiful and peaceful, but makes a great base to explore the surrounding area within easy reach of Oxford, Stratford and surrounding areas.
The cottage itself was really well presented and has many charming features. Toughfully and well-equipped with everything needed for a great stay. Would not hesitate to stay again and gladly recommend!
