About this house rental

Commune with nature and feast your eyes. This renovated farmhouse is located in a small hilltop hamlet, with a swimming pool and breathtaking panoramic views of the hills and groves of the Clunisois region.

Located on a 2-hectare property next to the owner's house (not overlooked) and the Grand Gîte Des Marions (our gîte for 10 people), the Petit Gîte Des Marions has its own south-facing terrace furnished with a table and chairs, a parasol, and a barbecue. A natural swimming pool, open year-round, is available to guests of the Petit Gîte and the Grand Gîte.

The gîte comprises a large double bedroom upstairs and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. On the ground floor, there is a bedroom with two single beds and a sofa bed, as well as a large living room opening onto the kitchen/dining room.

A 20-minute drive from unique historical sites (Cluny, Paray le Monial, Cormatin, etc.) and 30 minutes from the Mâconnais vineyards, the gîte is an ideal refuge for discovering the delights of Southern Burgundy.

Linen and towels included in the price.

During July and August the Petit Gite can only be reserved together with the Grand Gite

This is a difficult review to write. In many ways we loved this place. Victoria was a very helpful host and the apartment itself was well-furnished and comfortable. The location was attractive and quiet. The downside? To say that the internet connection was slow and undependable would on a small scale be like saying the Titanic had a leakage problem. If you want a vacation to escape connectivity, this is your place. However, if you like to keep track of news, communicate with friends, research restaurants and sites, go elsewhere. If we had been aware of the problem, our disappointment would have been less, but the first warning was in the info manual in the the place itself. So, great place IF what you want is to be away from it all.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our initial impression was that the gite was very remote, but actually, it was only a few minutes to the nearest town, and the situation of the gite meant that it was completely tranquil. Victoria has provided everything you need, including toilet paper and washing up liquid! The bed was very comfortable, and there was English TV for the evenings. We actually ate at the house frequently during our week as it was so pleasant. Fantastic walks from the door, and easy accessibility by car to Macon, Beaune and our favourite, Cluny. We had some excellent degustations and bought some what we hope will be good wines to be savoured over the year. We would happily return for more exploration of the area. The weather was also superb - wall to wall sunshine!

Victoria was a lovely host and we both fell in love with her 2 dogs Monte and Plume. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. It is in a lovely part of the countryside and there are nice places to visit within easy travelling distance by car. We had a relaxing holiday in France and hope to return.

So Charming!

So Charming!

The cottage at Les Marions exceeded all our expectations. The cottage was lovely, well appointed and peaceful. Due to considerable rain the gardens were blooming and the vista from the comfortable terrace was so green. I knew immediately 3 nights were not enough to enjoy this very charming home and area. We loved watching the cows, horses, birds, dogs, cat and hearing the frogs! Everything was so comfortable and Victoria was a wonderful host. I worried that it was too remote for handy groceries, but the Super U is near, has every thing you need and open until 730pm. The region is just beautiful, unspoiled and easy exploring. I have to say a navigation system is important since there are beautiful rural byways to wander, many tiny villages to see and nearby Chateau Brancion and Cormatin to visit. The cottage at Les Marions made for the perfect stay in the area. Thanks again Victoria!

This is a jewel if you like quiet beautiful Burgundy countryside. It is only a little off thr beaten track and much better for it. All amenities provided as long as you are not addicted to high speed internet. Could not be better in my view and a charming and gracious host.

We had a very pleasant stay in this accommodation. It is in a lovely peaceful rural setting. The house is attractively furnished, roomy and well equipped for around 6 people. However, because of the distribution of space, there is only one bedroom - which is particularly spacious and attractive - and it is hard to see where further people might sleep. It is a few miles from the nearest shops/activities so not for those who need a lot of distractions! It was ideal for what we needed - a get away from it all R & R. The owner lives on the site and was pleasant and helpful without being intrusive.

The cottage is fabulously equipped with everything one would need for a superbly tranquil and restful holiday. Victoria had really taken on board the needs of her guests and even provided us with two wonderfully attentive dogs who appeared punctually at meal times on our terrace! We of course succumbed to their French friendliness and shared the odd meal with them but not the wonderful Cremant de Bourgoine that we found in the local supermarche. We had a super stay in this lovely property which was perfect for a couple who love tranquility and easy access to the many interesting Abbeyes and chateaux in the region. The Abbeys at Cluny and Para Le Monial, the castle at Brancion and the Rock of Solutre are absolute places one must visit. There are great Burgundy reds to have in abundance and Charolais beef for barbecues to purchase in all supermarkets. Naturally we felt that we had a duty to support these local producers! We visited the Saturday market in Beaune which was about an hours drive away and bought the most amazing Goats cheese, artisan bread and charcuterie produce before visiting the Hotel de Deu or hospital with its amazing roof and history. For the visitor who wants both a restful setting and easy access to historical sites Les Marions is perfect!

very enjoyable. Why 4 not 5 stars is the inconvenience of having to drive to get bread; I don't want to use my car every day. Welcoming, informed, and also a well equipped kitchen. My only suggestion here would be a small electric blender for soups, smoothies or whatever -- nothing fancy or expensive but v useful. We both would recommend strongly.

Our stay at Les Marions was "just what the doctor ordered". A charming converted cottage, equipped to a high standard and set in a very peaceful rural location yet within easy reach (by car) of a number small towns with lots of stunning historical sights to see The cottage is so very comfortable and full of character with a sunny terrace looking out across the countryside that it is tempting to just sit and relax but with Victoria's helpful suggestions of sights to see and places to eat we ventured out most days and found lovely quiet towns like Cluny and Tournus as well as bustling places such as Chalon Sur Saone and Beaune to explore. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling but being there during a heatwave (34 deg) we opted to visit medieval abbeys, chateau's and enjoyed the Caberet Evening show at the Cluny National Stud. Victoria is close by and discreet but very willing to answer any queries. We would thoroughly recommend Les Marions as an ideal location for those wishing to immerse themselves in the beautiful rural countryside and local cultures whilst "recharging your batteries"

An excellent choice for a rural retreat

This was "home from home" for us being clean, spacious and comfortable. It was so nice to have such a well equipped kitchen. Breakfast outside with the view to enjoy made a wonderful start to the day. The bed was very comfortable and the roomy bathroom was supplied with really hot water. Beside all the brochures in the lounge, Victoria took the time to answer our questions about which places would be good to visit. We found this very helpful. Thank you, Victoria, for paying such attention to detail in your cottage which made our holiday so enjoyable. We will certainly recommend this holiday cottage to our friends .

A very nice cottage, placed in a beautifull landscape! The cottage is good equipped and the owner cares for everything. Perfect for people who want to relax in a quiet sorrounding. All sights of South Burgundy could be reached by car. There exist lots of opportunities for cycling and hiking nearby. We had ungforgetable holidays. Thanks a lot, Vicotria! We spent one wonderful week at “les marions”. The cottage is very comfortable. There is a kitchen well equipped, living room with large sofa and two chairs you may sink in, look outside and listen music. The furnishing all over the house is made with love, tasteful and cozy. Even when we got in, there was some coffee and tea, a bottle of wine to welcome us, no need to buy toilet paper or dish soap. Really nothing is missing! The terrace with panoramic view on beautiful landscape invites for a long stay. Everything inside and outside the cottage is very well looked after. Besides there are two very friendly dogs which like to be caressed. Victoria is very discreet and always responsive to any questions. The place is perfect for who is looking for quietness and repose. The beautiful environments offer to visit lots of medieval churches, castles and old towns. We enjoyed our stay and returned very relaxed. We easily recommend this cottage to our best friends. My wife and I have visited numerous places in the countryside of France and Italy and our stay at Les Marions ranks as one of the best. It has an isolated beauty, while still being accessible to shopping and great things to see and do. The comfort level of the small house was superb, with all needs for furnishings and enjoyment met or exceeded. Victoria is the perfect host both before and during. This is a don't miss if you want relaxation and proximity to beautiful countryside. Just under 2 hours from the Lyon airport.

Un havre de paix, de tranquillité et d’authenticité. Un accord indescriptible, fait de discrétion et de présence vigilante pour le bien-être des locataires. Cette maison « le Cottage » est un lieu d’où il est difficile de partir, tellement on s’y sent bien. Une vue imprenable depuis la terrasse sur les collines de la Bourgogne du sud. La maison est aménagée avec goût et très fonctionnelle. NB : Victoria est une maîtresse de maison « hors pair » et nous l’embrassons très fort.

My wife and I prefer quietness in the countryside - and that is what we found. The cottage is well equipped and from the terrace you can see for miles. If your French is not that good it is convenient to have an English speaking landlady. Although she lives next door she is very discrete. We are a couple aged around 60 and just outside the gate we found a varied landscape ideal for biking on calm roads or walking on marked tracks. There are several viewpoints in the area and cultural sites, e. g. in Cluny, Macon and Autun. We can highly recommend the place.

Nous avons passé une semaine très très agréable chez Mme Fernandez. La maison est arrangée avec beaucoup de goût. Rien ne manque. Elle est agréable, et jolie comme tout. Nous avons pu souper tous les soirs sur la terrasse en utilisant le bbq au gaz très fonctionnel. La région est magnifique. Nous avons fait des balades, du vélo, du golf, des visites de châteaux etc. Mme Fernandez est extrêmement gentille et discrète. Par contre toujours prête à nous donner des renseignements utiles. cette maison est certainement à recommander!!

The holyday cottage is wonderful for friends of old houses in combitation with modern convenience in a harmonic landscape. The house is ample, aesthetic furnished and also a pleasent and clean stay at cold and rainy weather. The heating is good, the kitchen good appointed, sitting on the patio and looking into the landscape is the greatest. Everything is as discribed, sometimes even better. Unfortunately we could not swim in the pond. Our charming landlady Victoria gave us any information we needed, hints for good restaurants and maps for hiking. We found guides and brochures in the cottage for our planing. We thank Victoria that we could take part of her little paradiase. May be we will come again.

This is an exceptionally well equipped, tastefully furnished, comfortable and well looked after gite. The view is very beautiful even in the cold and wet during our stay! The owner is charming and discreet. Although her house is very close it is a lovely stone building which just adds to the remarkable view. We would give the whole location 9 out of 10. Lovely place in the middle of nowhere. little cottage, but plenty of place for a couple, very quiet, 2-3 cars a day passing. Kitchen with complete equipment, good for regular cooking. Bedplace very comfortable. Good sunny terrace with lovely view over the hills and the cows. Toscane is always very close to the visitors and enjoying your company (the owners dog ) A good place for walking, cycling and also running (no cars passing on the roads). It`s not far for the next shopping place but quite a long way to dijon and other highlights. We would like to come back !
