Prestwick Byre

Excellent cottage we have stayed there 3 times now it is in a lovely location with comfy beds and friendly owners.

Little Byre is in a quiet, rural location with several public footpaths nearby which were handy for walking the dogs. The property is quite spacious, comfortable and well-furnished, more than adequate for the two of us and our 2 dogs. The lovely owners kindly provided a jug of milk, a packet of biscuits and some delicious flapjacks for our arrival. Some teabags & coffee were also provided. There was always lashings of hot water for showers and washing up at any time of the day and overall the property was clean and welcoming. We could park directly outside which is a boon when unloading & loading the car. There is a large flat-screen TV positioned conveniently for watching from the sofa, although it seems local WiFi is sometimes a bit 'iffy' and occasionally there would be buffering during a programme, despite re-booting the router.

I only have a couple of criticisms: 1. When I tried to use the vacuum cleaner it did not work at all well. On inspection, I found that the dust canister was full, there was a fistful of long hair wrapped around the roller brushes and it looked like the filters had never been cleaned. When the canister had been emptied, the hair cut away from the brushes and the filters washed and dried, the vacuum cleaner worked properly. 2. Whilst the property itself, crockery, glassware and cutlery are all clean, many items in the kitchen used for cooking or baking either feel tacky from a film of grease (eg the salt & pepper grinders, olive oil bottle etc), or have a hard, black coating of baked on grease (eg roasting pan, bases of saucepans etc). The electric stove top had circles of baked on grease on all 4 rings which I was eventually able to remove with hob cleaner and we left it shiny & clean.

The whole setup of the house was top quality and it was prime location for our holiday. But I will stop again but have a more relaxed stay exploring other close places of interest. We booked it as it is within 30 miles of three theme parks and Epsom train station for cheap train tickets to London. We were out every day but it was a nice comfortable place with every convenience inside. Especially complimentary Milk, Cake and Cookies plus quiet to relax. Will surely book again

Great location, quite nights sleep. Comfortable beds. Great hosts. Clean place. Has everything you need. Thanks for your help Paul and Joan - Great place you have. Kids also loved Feering the 2 goats.

Nothing major, need to upgrate few utensils, like kettle.
