Haichian Hostel

If I could sum up my stay at Haichian Hostel in one word, it would be "exceptional." For a 3-day, 2-night trip to Xiaoliuqiu, choosing this hostel was easily the best decision we made, delivering an experience that far exceeded the price we paid. The value for money here is outstanding. We stayed in a clean, spacious 3-bed room that comfortably accommodated 4 to 6 people while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness. Location-wise, it is an absolute gem for ocean lovers—just a short 2-to-3-minute stroll brings you directly to the beach, making it ideal for early morning sunrise views, sea turtle spotting, and spontaneous swims. Being able to walk right back to the room for a quick rinse off made our beach days completely hassle-free. On top of that, the host was incredibly warm and welcoming, providing detailed local tips that were a lifesaver for first-time visitors. Through the host, we were also able to easily arrange motorbikes, scuba diving, and kayaking sessions at very affordable rates.

To be completely honest, there was nothing truly negative about our stay, but there are two practical details worth noting for future travelers. First, the hostel is located a bit farther from the ferry pier. Since ride-hailing services like Uber are practically non-existent on the island due to the scarcity of cars, I strongly recommend contacting the host in advance to arrange a motorbike pickup as soon as you step off the ferry. Second, the soundproofing in the rooms is somewhat limited, so guests should be mindful of their volume at night out of courtesy to the hosts and fellow stayers.

1. Location: the back of the property was linked to a small and seemingly "private" beach. The area was quiet, and the seawater was clean/clear/warm. We saw 5 sea turtles upon arrival at this beach area in the afternoon! 2. Travellers needed to take off their outdoor shoes to enter their room. (No slippers provided, though. But we carried our own slippers, so this was not an issue for us.) 3. There was a lower faucet about 1-2 feet high above the washroom floor, and it had a shower head as well. Outside in the yard area, there was another faucet area/washroom that travelers could wash their swimming gear/feet. 4. We arrived earlier than the check-in time, and we were allowed to put down our luggage in the room, which was very much appreciated! (so we could go straight to the beach area and watch sea turtles!) 5. The property manager's father was a very nice gentleman and a super knowledgeable local fisherman. He took us on a careful walk around the area to respectfully learn about various sea species when the tide was low. He also shared his life experience with us. 6. The property manager's mother was an extremely warm woman who shared with us local mangos collected from their own property. She also told us where to find an electronic bike store, since we did not have an international driver's license. 7. Payment method: was flexible. Since we did not have a Taiwan bank account, we paid in cash upon arrival. The property manager was also easy on communication. 8. Check out was easy as well. We just put the room key into the office.

1. Location: not convenient and needed about 15 minutes to walk to shops, restaurants and harbours. 2. There were many tiny, tiny ants on top of the small fridge. 3. There were no chairs inside the room. But there were several chairs outside in the yard, so we took two chairs into our room and put them back when we checked out. 4. The window in the washroom was near the street/facing the neighbouring house. 5. The two windows had no views (one faced the charis/table set in the courtyard, one faced the street). Even though the two windows were facing each other (located on opposite sides of the room), the air circulation was not as good (the air inside the room seemed stalled, but it might be that it was too hot).

Geräumiges Zimmer und Bad, funktionell eingerichtet mit Kühlschrank und Klima Anlage. Badetücher und Wasserkocher werden nicht zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Highlight ist der hoteleigene Strand, wo man wirklich den ganzen Tag unzählige Meeresschildkröten vom Felsen aus oder vom Wasser aus beobachten kann. Unglaublich ! Unbedingt Badeschuhe anziehen (ich konnte mir welche von der Unterkunft leihen)
