The Shell House

Location was excellent. Right on the Shuk with plenty of food options day and night, but still quiet at night. Also within walking distance of the beach. Overall, a very central and convenient location. The apartment was bright and had a balcony which was great. It was nicely furnished and in good condition. We had an issue with the air conditioning in the 2nd room and the manager was kind enough to give us an alternate apartment to sleep in as the air conditioner was not able to be repaired during our stay.

It wasn't quite a 2-bedroom apartment. Apartment one had the balcony, kitchen, washing machine and a large bedroom with ensuite. The other apartment was next door and was a room with ensuite. You had to have both apartment doors open to make it a two-bedroom apartment, allowing for no privacy for the 2nd apartment, or no access to the apartment with all the facilities. It would have been good to know this beforehand as this was not convenient. The 2nd apartment also had a strange wooden construction in the room to allow you to watch tv in bed. This cut the space and made it harder to move around the room and the bed. Nor was there enough storage in this room for more than one person, especially if you stayed for an extended period of time- there was only a small space to hang a few things (with 2 hangers) and two small drawers. The main bedroom in the proper one-bedroom apartment was well appointed with plenty of cupboards and drawers. Despite these concerns, I would stay at Shell House again!

Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Thoughtful extra touches. The patio off the lounge, kitchen was open plan,comfortable and large and it had an awning covering it which was great for a little privacy and from the sun. Lovely rooftop with views to hang out on too at sunset time.

It was a bit noisy in the street below due to construction in the building near it and the market close by. The patio is quite close to the patios of the building opposite so not much privacy sitting outside. Would be lovely if the patio had some type of privacy where the railings are so. But if these two aspects don’t bother you, it is a perfect place to stay.

Great location. Nice rooftop deck. Very comfortable bed and the shower was fantastic. Honestly best shower I have ever been in.

There was no toilet paper when we arrived but the host did help us out and gave us the code for a neighboring apartment to get toilet paper and a couple of other items.

The host was super nice and available.

The apartment was full of dust and the floor as well. It was humid cause it's a ground floor.
