La Calanque 263 villa

This little house is in a beautiful spot with private parking and personal gated access straight from the garden down to a perfect little beach with shell and pebbles. You will need beach shoes to get into the water here as it is very rocky but the water is crystal clear and it is perfect for snorkeling. There are a number of very good restaurants and a little shop within walking distance. Especially good was the pizza restaurant, Tutti, just opposite the house. The house has a small gated garden with a lovely terrace and spectacular sea views. The neighbours, however, are always out on their terrace which very slightly overlooks you, so if you crave privacy this may be an issue. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived. Key handover was difficult as the agent spoke no English whatsoever and was quite brusque with us. Be aware, there is a large deposit expected on arrival, which we had not understood. The house itself has a large sitting room downstairs, poorly equipped. Two sofas, a small dining table, an old tv with nothing but a few French channels and no wifi. We were not aware of the fact that there is no wifi so if this is something you need this may not be the place for you. There were no lamps or anything to make the place cozy in the evening. The kitchen was ok but lacked lots of essential items. No bread knife or wooden spoons etc. it is clear that nothing has been updated here in a very long time. That being said, the fridge, oven and washing machine all worked well. Downstairs there is a very small bedroom with only room for the bed and a bathroom with just a bath, toilet and hand basin, no shower. The stairs to go to the upper bedroom are the real problem here. They are not proper stairs but more like a ladder, very steep with open, narrow and shallow wood treads which would be extremely dangerous for children or anyone of reduced mobility. I think these stairs should be mentioned in the property description. The bedroom and bathroom upstairs were extremely tired with paint peeling off the walls and window frames. Cracked and chipped tiles in the bathroom and shower cubicle. The bed was like a board and the pillowcases had stains on them. All linen and towels were of the poorest quality, old and thin. The view from the bedroom window however was beautiful! Despite the fabulous location of this property I can not recommend it and would not stay here again.
