Pelican Inn by Belvilla Aransas Pass TX

Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra to get your money's worth. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the fact it is close to the HEB, close to the road leading to the ferries, and there is a fishing pier close. Other than those 3 things, there is absolutely no way anyone could pay me enough to stay in this hotel again. Let’s start by telling how all the sheets and blankets were never changed and filthy. They had the previous guest’s hair on them, and some unknown stains. Let’s hope it was just the previous guest and not 5 guests ago. The electrical cables run through the hotel from the TV to a working outlet was nothing short of an electrical fire waiting to happen. The nightstand had handles missing. The curtains did not fully close, so we always felt like we were giving the outside world a free show of anything and everything. The bathroom sink drain stopper was not connected to the release lever. Had to manually go under the sink to drain the water. The front of the cabinets under the sink looked like they were barely hanging on for dear life. They were installed so crooked that there was literally half an inch gap at the top and almost 2-inch gap at the bottom. There was also some metal mounting piece under the sink that I never figured out what it went to. Now for the worst one was the door into the room. It had a few things wrong with it, first of which there was such a huge gap around it, that you could stick a credit card in between the door where the lock was and open the room, sadly enough I tried it and the door opened. Next when you are inside the room, the deadbolt on the door would not lock at first, it was misaligned. I tried to lock it for 5 minutes, then I gave up and went to get the front desk clerk. She came up there and after a few tries she was able to get it to lock, however I was still not able to. I asked for a different room and she said we already used the room. Which we had literally just finished unloading the room was all, we had not used the bathroom, beds or anything else. Lastly, there was some lady that kept sitting outside her room, which would not have been an issue, but we were walking to our truck and my son made some joking comment, and she was on the phone telling who she was talking to the comment my son made. Extremely nosey neighbors. So, for your own peace of mind, safety and security, please pay a little extra and stay somewhere where they respect their guests. This hotel is only in it for the money and by looking at the shabbiness of the hotel room, it has not had any maintenance done on it in at least 5 years other than a coat of paint to the outside of the building possibly.
