About this cottage rental
A magnificent area of 2.5 acres of pine trees with direct access to the sea, this romantic trullo, ideal for two or three people, offers spectacular views of the rocky cliffs of Castro and the Palombara cove. Immerse yourself in a corner of paradise where you can smell the fragrance of the Mediterranean and listen to seagulls and cicadas interrupted only by the sound of the waves.
This house is located in an exclusive and unique estate consisting of several villas and trulli, separated by pine trees. It is known as "La Palombara" and was popular with VIPs in the seventies and eighties. At the end of 2019 we rediscovered this heavenly place and we chose to upgrade and redesign parts. It is now available for guests that are looking for a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In the photo gallery you will find a map of the entire grounds.
A path leads from the property directly to the sea. On your way down, the views are beathtaking. Once on the rocky beach, you will find four access points for swimming, diving, snorkeling or fishing in the crystal clear water of the Lower Adriatic Sea. It might be possible to see passing dolphins. (Caution: the path and access to the sea from the rocks is not suitable for small children or people with disabilities.)
The trullo, made of beautiful stone walls, has one double room with en-suite bathroom with shower (completely renovated in May 2022) and a living space with kitchen (including a dishwasher), fireplace and an additional single bed. The interior is simple but functional; there is no TV nor air conditioning, but the thick walls and pine trees mitigate the heat of the summer sun. Just outside the building, a private partly shaded terrace offers wonderful views.
A barbecue and an outdoor shower complete the picture.
The well-known fortified village of Castro, with its bars, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket, can be reached on foot in just ten minutes. The walk is along a charming path under the ancient Messapian walls. For those who prefer sandy beaches to rocks, the enchanting sandy beach of Porto Miggiano is 5 km away; very charming are also the coves of Porto Badisco and the long sandy beaches of Alimini, north of Otranto.
Sheets, duvets and towels are not included. If you don't want to bring them with you from home, regardless of the length of your stay, you can rent them for €26 per person.
Final cleaning is not included and costs €80, unless you clean yourselves before departure.
Dogs and pets are welcome, if you inform us in advance! Surcharge: €150 for the 1st one, €75 each for the others. Usually max 1 large or 2 small ones are allowed, but exceptions might be possible upon request.
We will ask you to pay a security deposit of €400 before arrival. The security deposit will be refunded within 7 days after departure, if there is no damage.
Electricity costs (and thus where applicable AC, hot water, heating etc.) are NOT included in the price and will be charged based on your actual consumption. The price per kWh charged to guests was €0,52 on 06/01/2026, when this text was last updated. Prices may slightly change over time.

We are obliged by law to verify the identity of all our guests. We will therefore ask you to upload copies of your IDs on our (secure) website to verify your identity before handing out the key code for the accommodation. Parties, gatherings, events or loud music are not allowed at this property unless explicitly authorised beforehand by us in writing.
In case the local municipality charges a tourist tax, we will ask you to pay this separately to us and we will transfer it to the local authorities as required by law.
Please note that, like for all houses in Italy, the power allowance of the house is limited and you might not be able to always use all electric appliances simultaneously. No need to worry: most guests don't even notice this limitation.
Unlimited wifi is included in the price for normal use. Fair use policies might apply. Please note that we cannot guarantee any specific connection speed nor coverage across all rooms in the building. We're happy to provide more details upon request.

We had a wonderful vacation in this trullo. Both the communication with the team and the directions to the accommodation were excellent. As soon as we arrived, we were able to relax, and the direct view of the ocean made it even easier. As others have already mentioned: definitely have mosquito spray on hand, as they are very active there. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed as this one – the entire stay was simply delightful. We also fell in love with both Castro Marina and Castro itself. Thank you WOW homes!
The only thing I would criticize is that we did a lot of cooking in the trullo, and the fan is no longer strong enough for that, so it should perhaps be replaced or checked. Otherwise, everything was great, and we will definitely come back.

La beauté du lieu, le calme et surtout la possibilité de faire tout à pied (baignade et village de Castro)
La salle de bain. (Je préfère une douche à une baignoire en sabot, peu d'eau chaude et la salle de bain est facilement inondée).

Ruhige Lage inmitten der Natur, abgeschieden und doch zu Fuss schnell im Ort Castro. Schattenspendende Bäume um zu relaxen und Bademögleichkeit dank Treppenzugang zum Meer. Absolut idyllisch. Top Service und sehr netter Kontakt, immer prompt erreichbar.

Simple but good - Traumlage mit Meerblick, ruhig, Pinienduft, steiler Weg zum Meer, dort schönes Schnorcheln, netter kleiner Ort in 10 min zu Fuß zu erreichen.
