Illa Mar Dor 129

Generally this was a nice apartment to stay and we would stay again. Well located, very nice swimming pool in the apartment block just a short walk down the corridor and down one flight of stairs only. I don't think the pool is heated but in the heat this year the pool was at a fabulous temperature. The pool is I would say very good for children as there is quite a big area where a 5-6 year old will be able to swim and touch the bottom and there is also a deeper area for independent swimmers. We have stayed another year when it was cooler and the pool felt a bit cold but was ok. The pool is just for apartment residents and there was no shortage of loungers so no morning mad rush for a good space. Fairly quiet air conditioning kept apartment very comfortable. Balcony has a nice view over the Estartit football field and el Castell Montgri and I think must be West facing as it was very sunny in the afternoon (with a nice awning). Very safe area (but then again everywhere in Estartit is safe !) There is a double bedroom and a bedroom with two single beds but storage space is quite limited. We were three in the apartment which I think was about right. Two older children in the small bedroom would have been quite tight given very limited storage space. I would say the apartment is ideal for a couple or a couple with 1-2 young children. The kitchen is well equipped with a good size fridge. Quite a few inexpensive places to eat well very close to the apartment. Jocs is around 100m away and does inexpensive food, plus plenty of places to eat near the Avinguda de Grecia. Beach is around 5-10 mins walk I would say and not necessary to use the car to get to the beach. If you came to Estartit without a car you could definitely stay here without issues. A few moans below...

Felt overpriced compared to equivalent apartments we have stayed in. There is some slight noise disturbance from Jocs but not bothersome. There is a parking space in the underground parking area which is accessible to the flat by lift. However, the parking space was very awkward indeed to park our car into in part because there isn't much space between the spaces opposite each other, but mainly because the owners (or owners of next car parking space) have chained three bikes alongside each other in such a way that they significantly encroach on the parking space so we ended up parking on the street most of the time. A bit annoying as we had selected this apartment partly because it had secure parking. You would probably be ok with a small car but anything medium-large is awkward. Off street parking can be tricky to find in the area at the weekend in August but would I am sure be ok at other times of year. A few other gripes... the kettle leaked water badly from a joint the first time we used it and caused the electric to trip as water leaked into the base. The toilet flush mechanism was faulty from our arrival and then stopped working completely. The agent impressively got the kettle replaced same day, and sent a plumber to fix the toilet next day. Well done to them. All the kitchen knives were incredibly blunt and I would say unusable (didn't report these) as at this point I had already reported several issues with the apartment and it felt over-demanding. I suspect the owners only visit the apartment occasionally as these things should be spotted quickly but really not the sort of thing you would expect given the price paid. The biggest negative was lack of wifi. Due to mountain mobile signal is problematic so internet access was difficult.

Swimming pool excellent. Excellent air conditioning and nice view from balcony. Good location and peaceful but close to beach and everything in Estartit accessible by foot if you are sightly energetic.

No wifi still (we came last year) which really should be available in an apartment at this price as mobile signal in Estartit is erratic a best due to the Roca Maura probably. Bathroom and some other aspects of apartment could do with updating. Bedspreads look very old
