Welcome to the Viewhouse in Lanikai. Our family has owned, renovated, and lovingly maintained this special property since 2003, and we are delighted to share our piece of paradise with guests from around the world. Many of our visitors return year after year, and several have stayed with us more than 20 times.

The Viewhouse is one of the few licensed and legal vacation rentals in Lanikai, one of Oahu's most sought-after beach communities. Perched on the mountainside above Lanikai, the home enjoys sweeping ocean views of the Pacific and the Mokulua Islands while still being just a short, easy walk to both Lanikai Beach and Kailua Beach.

Unlike many vacation rentals, the Viewhouse offers the best of both worlds: elevated views and convenient access. The property sits along the main road in Lanikai, making it easy to explore the neighborhood, beaches, hiking trails, and nearby Kailua Town.

THE SPACE

The Viewhouse occupies the entire first level of this beautiful three-story estate and is completely private. Guests do not share entrances, bathrooms, or living spaces with the other levels of the home.

The unit includes:

• One bedroom with a queen bed
• One queen Murphy bed in the living area (2 queen beds total)
• One full bathroom with shower
• Fully equipped kitchen with full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, convection cooktop, toaster, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, and utensils
• High-speed Wi-Fi
• Large flat-screen television
• Private washer and dryer located on the first level
• Pack-and-Play available for families traveling with infants

The home features beautiful bamboo flooring, marble countertops, Hawaiian heirloom quilts, and custom island furnishings that create a comfortable and authentic Hawaiian atmosphere.

OUTDOOR LIVING

One of the highlights of the Viewhouse is the spacious covered lanai overlooking the ocean and the Mokulua Islands. Guests often spend most of their time here enjoying morning coffee, reading, dining outdoors, or simply relaxing while enjoying the trade winds and spectacular views.

The lanai features:

• Ocean and island views

BEACH & RECREATION AMENITIES

Guests are welcome to use the beach and recreation equipment stored in the garage, including:

Whether you're heading to the beach, exploring Kailua, or paddling offshore, you'll have everything you need for an unforgettable stay.

ACCESS & STAIRS

Guests enter the property from the front of the home using the brick steps and wooden staircase leading to the first-level entrance.

Please note that stairs are required to access the Viewhouse. While the unit is considered the first level of the home, it is elevated above street level and requires one flight of stairs from the parking area.

NEIGHBORHOOD

Lanikai is widely considered one of the most beautiful beach communities in Hawaii. The neighborhood is known for its quiet residential character, stunning turquoise water, offshore islands, and year-round trade winds.

The famous Lanikai Loop is approximately 2.5 miles around and is perfect for morning walks, jogging, or biking. The beach is approximately 1.5 blocks away.

A NOTE ABOUT HAWAII

Many visitors are surprised to learn that most homes in Lanikai do not have air conditioning. Thanks to the steady trade winds that flow through the neighborhood year-round, air conditioning is generally unnecessary, and guests find the natural ocean breezes very comfortable.

Winter on Oahu remains warm and pleasant, though the North Shore experiences its famous large surf season from approximately December through March.

Great being in Lanakai, we’ve wanted to stay down there for some time. The unit itself is a little tired. Sliding screen door requires finesse, towel rack in bathroom falling off, etc. Kitchen is sparsely stocked - no salad spinner, cheese grater and the knives seem not to have been sharpened for some time. View from the bottom level is now more overgrown since the pictures were taken, very limited view from the deck. While it’s true there are bikes, they are in disrepair. We did manage to find two that we could make work, and then discovered there was no bike lock. The owner acknowledged that she needs to buy one and replace the bikes. (We ended up buying a lock at Target so we could use the bikes, and left it there for future guests.) Finally, if the space above you is rented, be prepared to hear every footstep they take. Nice as Lanakai is, I can’t recommend this unit and wouldn’t stay again.
