Fairways Hotel on the Mountain

The rural environment was so refreshing. Beautiful landscape and views. Spacious, clean, and very comfortable beds & large bathroom. Jack's Place was so convenient and great food too.

My family and I witnessed a disturbing incident on Wednesday morning on the first floor when we were going out for breakfast. There was a cleaner with her cart by one of the rooms. We saw another cleaner and what we assumed was the housekeeping supervisor stomping down the hall towards the cleaner girl. The lady was a bit heavy set and was blonde. She verbally attacked the housekeeper at the room door "Why don't you have on proper shoes"!!? She ranted to the girl. The girl was quiet and then I heard the supervisor again say loudly and in a bullying manner "Why aren't you wearing proper footwear!!!!? My heart hurt for the cleaner at the door, she was being bullied and cornered by the supervisor and the girl who was with her. I didn't hear the rest of the conversation because I felt embarrassed for the girl and didn't want to stare. I feel the supervisor could have perhaps used a kinder approach in her inquiry regarding the cleaner's footwear. Perhaps asking her what could be done to support her in assuring she has the proper shoes to keep her safe at work? Perhaps speaking with the cleaner privately and not in front of hotel guests? As a family we all felt that your staff should feel supported and not demeaned no matter what the issue. The girl who was being reprimanded seemed young and was wearing a white head scarf and had an accent.

The hotel is very nice and the room itself comfortable with a great view of tall pines. The nearby restaurant was also very nice.

When we booked this hotel we didn't realize how far it was from the city. However the room was spacious. The TV didn't work part of the time and the selection disappointing so zoning out at the end of the day didn't work well with their TV.

we got a extra guest , but they denied to stay with us , we checked no hotel was available and they didn’t had any room available . we were five adults one of us slept in truck after too much arguing, he allowed to stay around midnight!

We enjoyed the beautiful location. The beds were comfortable. Many of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We liked having a fridge, freezer, and microwave.

Parts of the room were filthy, other parts were very clean. We were disappointed when at 7:15 am all the breakfast muffins were already gone. Poor planning by the hotel. As well, it would be nice if the juice was not only on the weekends. We were also disappointed to learn all the amenities were add ons and we needed waivers to go for a nature walk. We enjoyed walking in the neighbourhood though.

It was a wonderful place. Easy parking.

Complimentary coffee machine in the lobby only served sweetened cappuccino. The receptionist said that they would also have complimentary muffins with that wasn´t like that.

I liked the quiet location and the community that surrounds.

I wish there was a restaurant.

Nice, bright corner room with a kitchenette. Real cream in the fridge for our morning coffee.

The pillows need to be changed as, to me, they smelled.

The rooms were a very good size & the bathroom was spacious too. Nice big bath & separate shower. Complimentary coffee available, but I only knew this by reading other reviews. We were not advised by the staff

The reception staff were totally disinterested, looked bored the whole time, didn’t interact with guests. The maid service was appalling!!! Came back to find the beds not maid properly, covers had just been pulled across rumpled sheets. No surfaces had been wiped down, in the bathroom or the kitchen area, crumbs had been left on the floor. No replenishing of toilet paper, had to ask for it as we ran out!! All surfaces were covered in dust & paper bags left from previous guests stuffed in the kitchen area. The room had obviously not been cleaned in between guests. When we called to complain, we were just told sorry!! Customer service is obviously not a priory here. Will definitely not return!

Everything was good until one staff member entered our room and told us that we were supposed to be checked out after our 1 night. She questioned us about our 2 night stay told us we should have checked out that morning...it was a shock..my anxiety levels went through the roof. After that the girl was quite snotty towards my husband and I. I will be calling manager today..

We did enjoy the location and the room was very comfy and nicely furnished. The kitchen was well-equipped and we didn't have to ask for anything in addition to what was provided in the room. There are some nice hikes nearby

The only little issue we had was that the guest toilet kept running and produced a bit of a noise even at night. We alerted the staff and they promised to look at it after we left.

The location was stellar, the beds are luxurious, the blackout curtains work well, and I am a huge fan of the giant tubs and separate showers.

There is no pool or gym.

I really liked this hotel, it had a good price according to other hotels around Victoria. I really liked the area, it had a charm. There was a restaurant, again it won’t have the best food ever, but the atmosphere was good. Hotel room was very clean and comfortable .

It was a bit far from the surrounding towns, which is not necessarily a problem, but you have to drive to get to places. Once you arrive to the hotel from a long day, you won’t be in the mood to get in the car again to grab dinner. There are some restaurants nearby, but they are not the best. If you stay for a shorter period like us, it’s not a problem, but if you stay longer you might want to have dinner somewhere else.

The hotel is nested in a very nice location, it takes a little car hike in the mountain... I personnally had a little walk in the mountain behind the hotel with my dog Scratch, he was so happy!! The area is booming so it might change but I was personnally impressed with the area!

I guess no hidden fees when you book online would be great, being up front always looks better

Staff and views

The room I got is different from what the picture shows. No hot water after one person's shower. Dirty sink. shower room not cleaned.

The room was very clean and quiet. The temperature was perfect and the AC was easy to control. Beds were comfortable.

There is no free parking on hotel premises. You have to pay $10 per night to pay at the hotel. Otherwise, you'd have to park somewhere else. We did not realize this before booking and it was not clear.
