The innkeeper and his wife are very friendly and welcoming. The dorm, shared facilities (toilets, bathroom, kitchen) are exceptionally clean. There is a nice terrace to eat outside if the weather is good. The location is relatively close to the city centre, there is a good bus connection, and a supermarket and bakery are nearby.
I loved my stay here and even wrote an article about it: https://ingridhampe.substack.com/p/la-montagne-cest-surtout-la-rencontre?r=8lzojv

This place is reasonably priced and basic -- it's all I needed to enjoy Chamonix. I appreciated the host creating an all-women's room. It didn't feel too crowded, but the place had good vibes.
The oven was broken!!
