Beautiful lB&B with view over a bay

The building was gorgeous and tastefully decorated. The bed room was a good size and comfortable with crisp white sheets and we liked that it was a sheet with a blanket so as we were cool in hot weather. Breakfast was amazing, thank you Peter for preparing with such care each day and Greg for his optimistic welcome each morning. The coffee is good too which is a big plus for us.

Absolutely fantastic in all ways a great start to our NZ adventure

The breakfast was amazing, freshly prepared and served by our hosts. We were served a different hot course each day, all of which were amazing, as was the homemade crumpet, banana cake, ginger cake and cinnamon croissant all accompanied by home made jam or marmalade made from the garden produce. The rooms were excellent, lovely bedding and towels. 24/7 access to the kitchen to make a drink of our choice, have a homemade cookie or bottle of wine, beer or soft drink from the honesty bar was just brilliant. Finally support, knowledge and information was fantastic throughout leading to excellent local meals, Sage was stunning, and the perfect sailing trip on Vigilant with Nat. Thank you

This was such an incredible place to stay! We enjoyed it so much, the team were outstanding, the breakfast was amazing! It felt like we were on a super yacht with the food, the presentation of the lodge and the owners were so lovely.

Great stay, my favourite in New Zealand on this visit.

The position high above a lovely bay is so beautiful with nature all around. There is a 1km walk into town with some slopes so ,at not be good for people with walking issues. The breakfasts Peter cooks are absolutely top notch fresh and tasty. Greg becomes the “concierge” for your visit and offers some great useful local info for the history of the house and Russell, eateries to use (when we were there the Duke of Marlborough was excellent) walks, tours etc It is a very personal stay which we enjoyed.

We loved everything. In Ta Punga room was spacious, spotlessly clean, great bed linen etc but there are no TVs here so if you need one of these please don’t go and spoil the natural ambience. My partner loves his TV in the evenings to catch up on sport so for him that was the only negative but most people absolutely love the chance to immerse in the charm and difference of this place.

Everything! The house is an old Victorian-style villa with a rich history, and you have the chance to explore it. Peter and Greg are wonderful hosts, and Peter is an excellent chef—his homemade breakfasts are absolutely delicious.

Russell is a special place and made all the more special by our stay in Arcadia Lodge

Interior design

Nothing particularly. Just some suggestions: - when guests have driven a long way, maybe give them a cup of tea on arrival / an opportunity to have a breather / use the facilities, before doing all the instruxtions / formalities - maybe detach the message about sun cream and damage to linen and the threat of a $50 charge from the actual taking of security deposit on credit card. It felt a little harsh, given the cost of staying. Just do it separately.

Beautiful, historic B&B with a wonderful view and breakfasts within walking distance of Russell

Thank you Peter and Greg for a wonderful stay in Russell, it was a real pleasure to stay at your B&B you made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We loved our historic room which was lovely and cool despite the heat outside. We loved the location which was an easy walk to central Russell and thank you for the advice about restaurants. However, the most memorable part of our visits were the amazing breakfasts on the terrace which were exceptional. We also loved chatting to your other guests who were so helpful and friendly we thoroughly enjoyed our time staying at Arcadia Lodge.

I liked the location and the well appointed rooms. Each room has a wonderful view of the bay or the magnificent gardens. The breakfasts were very special. No menu. You get what you are given. Never disappointing, Selection of fresh fruit salads and stewed fruits with cereals and yoghurt. Fresh brewed coffee. Couldn't be better. Hosts Greg and Peter could not have been more accommodating.or personable. We made new friends with them

A very memorable stay and would highly recommend staying at Arcadia Lodge.

Arcadia Lodge was a very cosy & comfortable stay in a much loved and maintained historical building with bay view. Peter and Greg know the area well and gave us great recommendations of places to visit. Peter’s breakfasts were superb! He produced unique and delicious food every morning - even during a power failure. Greg’s hospitality and attention to detail was above and beyond!

Fantastic!

Our hosts, Peter and Greg made our stay a memorable one. The lodge is a two storey beautiful character home with wonderful views of a harbour. It’s a short easy walk into Russell. The breakfast provided was gourmet and plentiful, beautifully cooked by Peter and presented by Greg. They offered helpful information about the area including great eating out options and excursions. Highly recommend this for your stay in beautiful Russell.

Ideal for a couple wanting to chill out and relax in a peaceful and beautiful setting

fantastic location - could have spent the entire day on the balcony looking over the water. Wonderful places to visit within walking distance of the lodge. Wonderful breakfast - fresh and flavoursome! Peter and Greg were wonderful hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home.

Bathroom/toilet for our room accessed by crossing the hallway, which could be an issue but was fine for us given no other guests on that floor during our stay and amply made up by the wonderful view from the room.

Idyllic stay in Russell with the perfect hosts!

A boutique lodge located a very short walk into the idyllic town of Russell in the Bay Of Islands. Greg and Peter are the best hosts. Before we arrived they recommended some superb places to eat. The breakfasts are to die for, beautifully presented and making use of ingredients from the garden Peter beats any chef I have encountered. The rooms are tastefully kitted out with everything you could possibly want and have views overlooking the bay. Couldn’t fault it, the most perfect three night stay!
