The Ilikai building has begun a major exterior improvement project, including spalling repairs and full exterior painting, carried out by a licensed contractor. This is a large-scale project for the entire building and is expected to take approximately 1.5 to 2 years to complete.
Project Timeline for This Unit: September 2026 – November 2026
Work Hours:
Construction work is generally limited to 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM in accordance with building rules. However, if there are weather-related delays, contractors may begin work as early as 8:00 AM on certain days to stay on schedule. During work hours, there may be increased noise and dust in the surrounding area.
Lanai Access:
Please note that the lanai will be inaccessible during this period due to scaffolding and safety requirements.
Privacy Notice:
For your privacy and comfort, we recommend keeping the curtains closed during work hours, as workers may be present on or near the lanai.

This one-of-a-kind corner unit is on the 23rd floor of Ilikai Hotel, featuring 2 king size bed and 1 sofa bed and can accommodate maximum of 6 people. This unit is perfect if you want to have an enjoyable time in the city as well as a serene time at your room. The living room has a boundless feel to it with vast windows that draw soothing sunshine and calming wind. The balcony has a table and chairs where you can relax and breath in the magnificent air of the Pacific Ocean. The balcony is a perfect spot to see the beautiful sunset as well! Don’t miss out on this wonderful experience waiting for you to have here in Hawaii! If you want to explore Waikiki, Ala Moana, or even the greater Oahu area, there are several transportation options. We stayed in the apartment with our son and daughter-in law. The apartment was excellent in every respect, the Ilikai was a very good venue, and we greatly enjoyed our stay.Our only issue was the mishandling of a false fire alarm at 4am. Falso alarms happen. We have experienced them in hotels before. But this event was completely mismanaged by the Ilikai. Firstly, the announcement message was garbled and incomplete. Instead of saying "Don't take the elevators, it came out as "take the elevators". Then at the bottom of the stairs, there were no Ilikai staff to provide information or direction. Nor were their any other Ilikai staff engaged in managing the false alarm outcome. Then there was a 2nd announcement of a fire alarm after we got back to bed. And finally, there was no acknowledgement or information provided on the event. A simple note to guests the next day explaining the event would have helped. We suggest that VRBO take up with the Ilikai the need for improved management, training and communication relating to fire alarms.

All the previous reviews on the cleanliness of the unit are correct. The carpet is very stained and in need of replacement. There’s a large rust stain in one of the bathrooms and the furniture and some cabinets are frayed and chipped. The balcony floors are also very dirty. There are no cleaning supplies provided other than dish soap.With all that said, did these factors ruin my trip-No. The location and view are why I stayed here.
