Over priced and not as described

Views

We used this rental at short notice for two days in January because the one we had arranged on The Coromandel was inaccessible due to extreme weather. It was our first time in NZ. The property is over priced and not as described. It says ‘two separate bedrooms’. However , prospective renters should be aware that users of the main bedroom have to walk through the second bedroom to access the bathroom or the kitchen /living/area/exit. Further, there is no storage or any surface to put anything on in the second ‘bedroom’ . It is essentially a corridor with a bed. The ‘property’ is clearly a converted garage - the garage door and opening mechanism are still in place and rattled through the )al wit wi dy) night. We have raised these and other issues with the owners who say there is a room plan on the 21st photo of 28 and imply that we have unrealistically high expectations. The place is grossly over priced (around 700 dollars a night). We moved on to the Coromandel property we had originally booked. It was two thirds the price of this one. It had three bedrooms, stunning views of the estuary and mountains, two toilets, comfortable sofas and kitchen/dining areas and was an easy walk to the beach and restaurants. The layout was easy to eat/sleep/relax in - it had been thought through. It is a shame that our first experience of New Zealand was so negative. We felt unwelcome and cheated. We suggest that the owners reword their summary paragraph - also that they spend a night there - with some luggage, Comfort is more important than macrame and potplants.

Lovely place, very happy with our stay.

Beautiful place, we were very happy with our stay. Lots of lovely plants, nice view, decorated really well. Comfortable beds, had everything we needed.

We were a towel short (5 people but 4 towels) but it was ok, 2 of the kids just had to share. Otherwise nothing to fault, we were very pleased with the place and would definitely come again!

Easy to find location/area. A warm, cozy & very grounded feeling home. Amazing & friendly hospitality with an amazing view to match. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wanted an easy escape from reality, even if it’s just for a night ☺️

It was an enjoyable time to share with my family at this amazing location!

It is modern, homely and loved the view. Would recommend it and also hope to get back there on a sunny day to enjoy the outdoor area.

There was just missing minor attention to detail. A half empty water drink bottle left beside bed, half used sugar sachets in container, back splash had been sprayed but not wiped over so had run marks across it.

Poor seating and layout unhelpful, no dining chairs or armchairs, only lowback firm couch which didn't support neck and shoulders. Oven/hotplate difficult to use and no expelair. Dining table at far end away from kitchenette. A long way to take luggage into building and request to take rubbish and recycling out and open door or window when cooking.Very spacious but not well laid out. Only one bedside table. Wind blew front door out of my hand and knocked over outdoor bench seat

Great option

Set back up a hill from town, this is a separate detached garage apartment from the owner/operators and their young family. It has wonderful views over the whole bay. We booked last minute and they were ready for us. There are several connected living areas in the apartment, so it would be an excellent choice for a family with multiple kids. Not walking distance to town/beach, but really short drive. Good parking. Owner was friendly and helpful. Cute kids and dogs. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!

A very pleasant stay

Stunning views from the property. Friendly owner also residing on the property who came to introduce herself and to check all was ok. We thought the accommodation was presented really well.

We thought maybe a change in interior configuration might be worth a try. Perhaps bring the table into the kitchen area for a start. The seating in the kitchen/tv area was not comfortable at all unfortunately. The outdoor seating needs stoppers behind it. It moves back towards the deck edge without you realising as you get on and off it and move around on it; we had a calamity with it falling off the edge of the decking when sitting on it!

Enjoyed our stay at the property and we were pretty chilled out after 4-5 days; perfect start to the holiday.

Amazing views, fresh interior with great shower and bathroom. Great kitchen setup, with outdoor space adjacent- everything you need! Very friendly hosts, great to have close by for any queries and recommendations places to eat and visit while we stayed.

It was an ok stay, more suited for family with kids. We did not feel very comfortable.

We just walked into the house and were greeted by the owner a little while later.

Given the rate we paid for our stay and reading the great reviews, we thought we were in for a real treat. The house was lovely, great polished concrete floors, modern interior and great craftmanship. The owner was very nice, but unfortunately my friend and I felt that there were a few fundamentals missing. Starting with a very uncomfortable couch to sit on (it was well past its use by date) we were supplied with shower towels, but no bath mat, hand towel or tea towel. The washing machine right next to the bed was odd. It was great to find some local Raglan brew but we would have loved an espresso machine, The layout of the place meant that one person had to always walk through the other persons bedroom to go through to the bathroom or lounge. The rattling of the garage door at night made it difficult to sleep. It just did not excite us and we have stayed in lots of different places. It could have been set up more lovingly and was too expensive for what it was.

The owners were awesome. Made us feel like we weee meeting old friends. My 4 year daughter loved it there and didn’t want to leave.
