The Gate Boutique Hotel Zürich

the hotel is located very close to the airport. you can walk to the bus station from the hotel and the bus goes both to the airport and towards downtown, switzerland has great public transportation. the hotel was clean, owner/manager was friendly, and they have an elevator which is nice instead of lugging bags up stairs. breakfast was included.

my only complaint is they advertise that they have AC, which they technically do, but on the first floor (where i stayed) it was only a small window unit located in the hallway that didn’t really reach my room. there was a fan in my room which helped keep cool at night and i cracked the window open. it was fine but im posting this to be aware of.

Prompt and clear communication on how to self check in as I reached the hotel after operating hours. Good location. The bus stop is just a short walk from the hotel as well as the Denner supermarket.

The breakfast was basic and there was nobody around except the cleaning staff. The walls are not soundproof as I could hear all the noise from the corridors.

I stayed in a solo room. It was bigger than expected. It had comfortable bed and chair, everything was very clean, had a fridge, a fan and everything I needed. Toiletries were nice quality. Great location to access the airport and Zurich. I had a pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Tasty breakfast.

Plane and traffic noises. I was hoping for a bathtub in my request but got room with a shower. I would recommend adding tissues or napkins with the breakfast,

The room was big, the bathroom very big. All seemed to be clean. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was fine.

The bed was broken. First we thought that just the mattress is a disaster, but when looking under it, we saw that two slats had fallen of. As it was already late, we fixed it ourselves as well as possible, but the mattress still had a huge sagging spot in the middle. In the bathroom closet there were some dirty ladies' underwear and I couldn't avoid thinking that perhaps someone works in the room regularly. In principal a nice little hotel, but we definitely won't be back.
