🔹 Location Not actually in central Thamel — it’s about 1 km away through a dark, narrow alley and then uphill on a busy road that’s hard to cross on foot. Surroundings are not appealing: mostly hardware shops and small vegetable stores, everything shuts down around 8 PM, leaving the area very dark and deserted. The alley to the hotel is almost unmarked and confusing to find. During my stay, roadworks completely blocked access, making it even harder. The only alternative way in is through an unmarked parking lot. The gate is locked after 10 PM, with no doorbell — meaning you must call and wake up the night guard to get in. If he doesn’t wake up, you’re stuck outside. For late check-ins, this is a serious issue as there is no reception staff at night. 🔹 Hotel & Facilities Elevator: Extremely small, fits only 2 people at most. Rooms: Very small and cramped, though equipped with basic amenities (hair dryer, fridge, TV, AC, small balcony). Mountain view advertised, but only faint peaks are visible at a distance on clear days — not really as expected. 🔹 Cleanliness & Maintenance Issues Found baby cockroaches inside side-table drawers. Toilet flush rarely worked properly — water often dripped instead of filling the tank. Shower mixer is poorly designed. The tap has good hot/cold mixing, but once switched to the overhead shower it becomes either burning hot or freezing cold, impossible to adjust. Very frustrating — my partner had to wash using the tap instead. 🔹 Staff & Service Reception staff were friendly and polite during the day. Restaurant staff were especially warm, attentive, and helpful — the best part of the hotel experience. ✅ Pros Friendly reception and restaurant staff. Basic amenities (fridge, AC, TV, balcony, hair dryer). ❌ Cons Poor and inconvenient location (dark alleys, unsafe late at night, confusing access). No late-night reception support — can literally get locked out of the hotel. Rooms are very small and not very clean (cockroaches). Plumbing and shower issues made basic use very uncomfortable. Mountain view is misleading. ⭐ Overall The hotel itself has friendly staff and basic amenities, but the location, access problems, and maintenance issues make it hard to recommend. If you want to stay near Thamel, there are much more convenient options inside the main area. Rating: 2/5 (generous mainly for the staff).
