About this house rental
A breathtaking property tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Brookwood House is an environmentally conscious retreat space designed to bring peace and relaxation to the lives of its guests.
Nearly 7,500 square feet of spacious, warming energy await. We've curated the ideal space to unplug, unwind, and reconnect. Brookwood is an ideal setting for art, music, and simple rest with your family and friends. We have a large pool and a creek for swimming.
PLEASE NOTE: The pool is open in the summer season Mid May - Mid September, when our pool is open we have a 7 night minimum check in Sunday - check out Sunday. If we have not rented a certain week in our summer season within 45 days of check in we will accommodate a shorter stay. Our off season minimum stay is 3 nights. Ask us about our huge discounts for weekly stays during the fall and winter months at Brookwood!
Pool season May 8 - Sept 15 (7 night minimum)
Brookwood was lovingly designed and constructed by the owners. We have 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bath with a giant swimming pool, outdoor shower, and a creek winding through the back.
As soon as you enter the foyer you welcomed with beautiful architecture of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the pool from the living room. Beautiful unique art displays from local artists. Every corner you turn you are sure to recognize a special piece on display. The master bedroom is to the left as you enter the home, with it's on-suite master bath, where a jacuzzi style tub awaits.
Outside we have a gas grill, fire-pit, terraced gardens, a veranda where you can watch bald eagles and heron, and even a sleeping deck with swings and netting to protect you from those pesky mosquitos. Spend a night outside listening to the sound of the Virginia peepers and the bubbling creek and wake up feeling brand new!
Cozy places abound in the corners of this lovely house, where you can relax and unwind while watching the abundant wildlife of these fertile mountains. Upstairs, there's a secret room that's great for kids, big and small, to hide out and play. But you have to get here to find it, and you're not allowed to tell!
We love hosting but are very particular about who we allow into our space. We hope that whoever shares this space will treat it with respect. We have created the space as a home for family reunions, weddings, and yoga retreats - it is not for parties.

PLEASE NOTE:
There is a caretaker of the property Mary who lives on-site in a studio apartment on the lower level. You might see our caretaker tending the garden or maintaining the pool during your stay, but they have their own private entrance and keeps mostly to themself. The caretaker is there for any house emergency, like a burst pipe or breaker trip.

This is our second time at Brookwood and we had another great stay. The layout of the house is such that we never felt like we were on top of each other. The grandkids love the secret room and the toy box. The dining table is so spacious and the kitchen and pantry had everything we needed. There’s a great walking trail, soccer field and playground nearby in addition to lots of options for hiking. The main attraction (of course!) is the pool. What a fantastic space! Shaded seating, floats and noodles, and super soakers. Mary, the caretaker, was awesome. She answered all our questions and addressed issues immediately. And every morning she was out there vacuuming the pool and taking care of any leaves and debris that had fallen during the night. Although we had record-breaking heat during our week, the pool was steps away. The driveway held our 3 cars easily and no one had to move a car for another to get out. At Brookwood, it’s so quiet and peaceful. It’s out in the country but about 15 minutes from Roanoke.

We just returned from our extended family vacation at Brookwood house. There were twelve of us total, six adults and six children. The house had more than enough space for everyone to sleep and hang out comfortably. The two porches were used extensively. The pool is very large and is deep enough for all types of fun races and games. Unfortunately, the summer has been very dry and the creek was just at trickle. The house felt isolated without actually being far away from anything. Downtown Roanoke is only about a 10 minute drive and there is a Walmart within 10 minutes, too. We even took a half day trip to visit Virginia Tech's campus.This property has a lot of stairs and the lot is very sloped. This would be very limiting for a guest with mobility issues. My mother had to go slowly on her new knee. There are outside ramps down to the pool, but even still there are few stairs to get onto the pool deck. There are steps to get into the pool, too.
