About this house rental

Blackfork Dogwood Haven cabin is located south of Hodgen, Oklahoma in the Ouachita National Forest on 105 Acres of land connecting to the US Forest Service on the North and South boundaries of the property.

We offer a cozy cabin that sleeps up to 6 in beds perfect for all types of vacation getaways. From honeymooning to groups or families, we can accommodate those looking for spending time with loved ones.

We have another cabin near this one and can accommodate larger groups that are wanting to rent out both cabins. (Vrbo listing #903323)

Our cabin is a modern rural get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! It has all the comforts of home with the exception of Wifi and Television. Instead, the living area faces a wall of windows that showcases the beauty of the outdoors. You can enjoy watching the wildlife from the comfort of the cabin.

The river is a short walk from the cabin. You can enjoy secluded access to swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or just wading around in the cool water. The bottom of the river is covered in beautiful river rocks so water shoes are recommended for stability.

We have kayaks and paddleboards available to rent for $40 to use the whole length of your stay. There is a great area for watercraft accessibility in front of the other cabin on the property. Please message us if you are interested in these additional features!

We make your vacation in the forest effortless. All you need to bring is your food and clothes! It’s that easy.

Phone service is hit or miss at the cabin but a short trip up the road will make phone calls possible if necessary.

If you love being outdoors or admiring nature, then this is the perfect stay for you and your loved ones! Our cabin in the woods is the perfect place to escape and connect to nature.

My son and I were looking for a remote place to relax and get away from the busy normal pace of life. This was perfect! Very remote and quiet. You can see the river below and a short walk allowed us to just hang out on the banks for a couple hours and just enjoy nature. The only drawback was the complete lack of cell coverage or WiFi to update my wife that we had arrived safely. I got a finger wag once we had service again at the end of our trip. We loved it!

Beautiful property. Off the beaten path location. Beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed the hot tub. Unable to connect to the internet but didn’t really miss it.

The property was inviting and accommodating. We had a wonderful time exploring the property and nearby locations. If I had anything negative to say it would be that the property needed curtains and we came in after an apparent wasp problem. There were dead wasps all throughout the cabin we had to sweep up when we arrived.

Our stay at this rental property presented both advantages and challenges. Initially, locating the property took a bit longer than anticipated; however, we were grateful for the detailed directions provided by the owners, which were crucial as the GPS led us to a location significantly distant from the specified gate. The VRBO listing boasted stunning views and was conveniently situated near a grocery store and Runestone Park. The kitchen was adequately equipped, allowing us to prepare most of our meals comfortably. Upon arrival, the gate was open and we immediately lost access to both Wi-Fi and cellular service. To use our phones, it was necessary to drive some distance down the mountain. This inconvenience could have been mitigated if a printed list of instructions had been available in the cabin. At one point, we faced an issue where the gate to the dirt road leading to the cabin was locked (I didn't think about making sure we had the gate code due to the gate being open). Without phone access, we were unable to retrieve the gate code. Consequently, we were essentially trapped until one of us walked far enough down the road to regain cell service. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the hot tub and outdoor shower. The hot tub was pleasantly relaxing and warm, while the outdoor shower offered excellent water pressure, particularly in contrast to the shower inside the cabin. We would choose to stay here again, but we will most certainly come more prepared!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hot tub worked just fine. Out door shower was wonderful. The access to the river was adequate with our needs and fishing was fun, especially with the kayak. Would definitely stay again!!!

Overall the cabin was clean in regards to sheets, dishes and towels, but there is definitely a fly problem. There were dead flies dropping from the ceiling, piles of flies under the bar that locks one of the doors and a swarm alive inside. While I understand this is the mountains I have stayed in many cabins in the area without this issue. There are "because it's mountains" amount of flies and there are "infestation flies" this was beyond mountains amount. The amenities list wireless and TV even though the little description states it does not so when you search for these features this cabin comes up so it needs to be updated. The host does state the cell signal is hit or miss but all 5 of us have different carriers and no one had signal. If you needed to call 911 for an emergency it's a 30 minute drive before you have useable signal. WiFi would be nice for safely reasons or to contact the host of there is an issue due to this, but we were just fine unplugging for the time we were there. One of the reasons we booked the cabin was for the hot tub and it did not work. We even downloaded the manual when we were in town just to make sure we were pressing the correct button and no jets, no hot water, nothing. We also did not hot water to shower the second night or the next morning. Due to not having signal, we could not contact the host until after we left as I was not driving to signal and then standing out in the middle of no where late at night waiting for a response.

I read some of the reviews before booking, so I want to make sure mine is detailed because this place was perfect! It was just big enough for myself, my husband, and our 3 boys. There is the other cabin but even though you can see it through the trees it’s a good ways away. We had plenty of privacy and more than enough room for our wild boys to run without bothering neighbors. The river was gorgeous and we even hiked to see other parts and there’s one area close by with TONS of beautiful huge butterflies! This was the perfect get away for those like us trying to get off electronics and just play, get dirty, and reconnect. It was the perfect stay! Yes there are flies and bugs, but it never felt overwhelming or anything. Overall it’s very clean and we had the best time!! The owner is super available which made it easy to text if we did have questions or needed anything.

The Cabin was so cozy and nice with large windows to enjoy watching nature. My family and I enjoyed spending quality time doing puzzles, games and outdoor activities. Our boys loved learning how to kayak there on their river. We would absolutely return!
