Welcome to Hale Koolau, Haena! Located on the north shore of Kauai, Hale Koolau sits behind wooden gates among the tropical landscape of a private, half-acre (2023m2) lot. With spectacular views of Bali Hai (Mt. Makana) and just a short stroll to Tunnels (Makua) beach, Hale Ko'olau invites guests to immerse themselves in an authentic Hawaiian retreat.
This 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom getaway is drenched in natural light and boasts an expansive, wrap-around lanai, perfect for indoor/outdoor living. The master bedroom has a California King-size bed and en suite bathroom with a stone shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed. The large, third bedroom aka the bunk room is separate from the main living space and can sleep up to nine guests with an attached bathroom. All bedrooms are equipped with its own AC, plush linens and beddings and its own bathroom.
Spend the mornings or evenings relaxing on the lanai where views of emerald green mountains remind you of the appeal of island life. Soak away the day in the newly added hot tub.
Amenities include and outdoor shower, lots of outdoor space and lounging areas which includes the upstairs covered lanai and downstairs "hang out" spot with amply furniture, BBQ and an outdoor table.
Take a 10-minute drive along the coastline and over several one-lane bridges back to Hanalei, famous for its crescent-shaped bay and small-town charm. Add another 10 minutes to your drive and find yourself in the resort community of Princeville, where you can golf oceanfront holes at the Makai Golf Club.
The property also has an additional guest house (1-bedroom/1 bath, up to 4 guests) called “Ko'olau Treehouse,” which can be rented in combination with Hale Ko'olau to have the entire estate to you and your guests.

This rental was stunning home! Very private and surrounded by so much natural beauty. The house was very clean, the furniture and appliances all looked brand new. It was the perfect place to stay for our family’s island get away. And every room had A/C, which came in handy for the hot and humid days/nights.

This was the perfect vacation rental for our family. The bunk house was perfect for the kids to have their own space and bathroom. The home was very spacious for ten people even on a rainy day when we couldn’t go outside. You never felt like you were on top of each other. This home is loaded with everything you could need in the kitchen to cook big meals for your family. Downstairs you have everything you could need for your trips to the beach. The beach is a short walk from the house. It is beautiful and no one around for miles however November is the start of the winter season with big waves and it made that beach extremely dangerous for swimming. We couldn’t go in the water but you aren’t far from other beautiful beaches where you can snorkel and swim. If you are looking for a quiet spot away from the hustle and busyness this is your place. We loved this rental and would love to stay here again.

The house was large and spacious, the lanai area is incredible. Lots of tables and places to sit and relax. Lots of towels and the hot tub was a bonus!

I had the pleasure of staying at this home with my wife, two small kids and parents. The house was *very* clean and comfortable. The house has a great layout. The bathrooms are all remodeled and modern. The wrap around deck gives you tons of options to sit outside and the views off the front porch are amazing. We ate outside on the large, covered table every night. The yard is big enough for the kids to run around and is nicely maintained. The only thing to keep in mind is the bunk bed room is separate from the main house so a little tricky with small kids. The location is one of the best on the north shore. The closest beach is a 5 minute walk and beautiful, although not ideal for swimming. If you head to tunnels and the parking is full you can walk pretty easily. It’s a quick drive to all the best beaches on the north shore. We would absolutely go back to this house and recommend it to anyone!
