A little more cleanliness

The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower was hot and the bathroom was clean. There was reliable WiFi. The kitchen was clean, we didn't use it but it looked well equipped. The staff were friendly. Good for a short stay.

There was no refill water. There isn't a 24 hour reception and even though they had signs in the rooms on how to access the hostel at night, through a little window on the door, many people were banging on the door throughout the night. They need to make it clear at check-in how to open the door to avoid this.

Mixed feelings about this place. To start with the positives, the location is great for being near the central plaza and within walking distance of pretty much everything, whilst being far enough away from Gringolandia to avoid the late night party scene. The kitchen was pretty well equipped and the upstairs terrace was a great place to hang out and eat and meet people. Our room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant enough.

On the other hand... The shared bathroom had a leaking pipe coming from the toilet which was constant (to a point where the water was leaking out into the hallway one morning) and despite me asking 4 times for someone to fix it, in the end I had to find a towel and a bucket to sort it myself. We then proceeded to empty it each day. We stayed here for 10 nights whilst we attended Spanish school and during that time our room wasnt cleaned or bins emptied once so we did that ourselves too. Andhalf way into our stay we realised we had to have the window open constantly otherwise mould started to grow on the back wall. Generally it was a pleasant stay but there were certainly places the hostel staff could have made it better and more comfortable. Probably wouldnt stay again but it did the job for our time in San Pedro.
