Salbunara is a unique place to enjoy the art of Zen living. With its own private beach only 20 metres away from the house, the property is set in the heart of a nature reserve, in a breathtakingly beautiful location at the end of an unspoilt peninsula.

The traditional stone cottage is simple yet cosy, modern and comfortable. It is surrounded by pine trees and olive groves that stretch over 1,3 hectares of land. The house and the landscape garden leading down to the beach face west, so every evening there is a golden spectacle with the sun setting into the sea. In the heat of the high summer, you are blessed with a cooling sea breeze that comes in around midday.

The house sleeps 8, with four bedrooms (1 double bed, 2 with 2 single beds, 1 with double bunk beds), 3 bath/shower/WC rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room, and a covered terrace for outdoor dining. Wireless Internet and satellite TV. There is also a private mooring that can handle yachts of a moderate size.

A gazebo by the sea always offers cool shade and a stunning view towards some of the most beautiful Dalmatian islands - Hvar, Vis and Solta. We call it “the temple” – a place for slowing down, for breathing in unison with nature. But there are other special places, namely two beautiful open-air studios with wooden floors in the shaded paradise of the pine-tree forest that can be used for parties, as well as for yoga, meditation, tai chi or other contemplative practices (30m2 and 50 m2), one by the sea and the other one up in the woods (this one has a roof just in case in rains).

Visitors find the setting so enchanting that they spend most of the time outside simply enjoying life, going to town for shopping or touring very little, although the island has much to offer. Salbunara is ideal for one or two families with children (and dogs if you like) who can run around in total safety far from any traffic, or for those who just want the utmost tranquillity in a place of sensational romantic beauty. Often children opt to camp out among the pine trees with the sound and sight of the sea just a few steps away - tents available.

Brac is the largest Dalmatian island, offshore from Split. The nearest town for Salbunara-Z is Milna, 4 km away, with shops, cafes, restaurants and a large marina. There are frequent ferry services from Split to Supetar, the main town of the island half an hour away, and a catamaran service for a high-speed connection direct from Milna to Split, Dubrovnik and some of Dalmatia’s most strikingly beautiful islands - Hvar, Korchula and Mliet.

Airport Transfers and Boat Rental: Guests have the option to transfer by taxi boat directly from Split airport to the mooring or to Milna town, 4km away (30 min). Rental cars can be delivered to Salbunara by prior arrangement. Exciting day excursions to Hvar and the surrounding islands for up to 10 people can be arranged with skippered or dry hire boats directly from Salbunara beach. We can also offer an extensive program of tailor made activities for all ages (including wine tours, sea kayaking, sailing, rock climbing and meditation).
Environmentally friendly: Salbunara is designed to respect the natural beauty of our island. The property has a small environmental footprint with solar powered electricity and a natural rain water reservoir. We strive to support local culture and to preserve the unique ecosystem of the nature reserve, so we ask guests to respect these principles and to be environmentally conscientious.

Please note that there is AC in the master bedroom and in the living room (which has a sofa that can sleep two adults). Two of the smaller bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans, and one – with a powerful cooler.
