The Barn, rustic country cottage dog friendly

It was in a good position, but really quiet. Had everything we needed

Quiet rural location, excellent home from home style accommodation, very comfortable bed and good shower.. Easy parking plus an easy drive to coastal resorts of Whitby, Robins Hoods Bay, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Sandsend and Saltburn for days out. There's very limited mobile reception in the area though so dont rely on keeping in touch...not a problem for me to not have to deal with any messages for a few days.

It's not a criticism of the accommodation, which was great, but we struggled to find dog friendly 'food' pubs etc which were open at lunchtime. We drove to several across the wider inland region which it then turned out weren't open until evening and most of the seaside cafes were just cake or scones (or not dog friendly) so we ended up going back for lunch, which thankfully the good facilities allowed for. I know the economy is to blame for limiting food service opening hours but if it's happening in July it seems worrying.for the less busy periods. We did find the Hare and Hounds at Hawsker on last day and that was serving meals from 12 noon and only a couple of miles away.

Absolutely beautiful Barn and surrounding countryside. The bath 🛁 was a good size and lovely shower, the bed was super comfortable, we slept so well and it was so quiet and peaceful, the Barn had everything
