About this cottage rental

Situated on a private estate, the property offers privacy and location, with stunning views over the Kyles of Bute and breathtaking scenery of surrounding lochs, glens and mountains of Argyll.It provides a perfect base from which to explore Scotlands spectacular West Coast.

One of the few rental accommodation in the area that has no public road nor other properties in front. A peaceful getaway, surrounded by nature yet within walking distance of the lovely coastal village of Tighnabruaich with all its amenities.

The cottage has been recently renovated and benefits from all the normal creature comforts and more. It has a stunning natural setting, complete with the soporific sounds of a natural waterfall located to one side of the cottage gardens.

Surrounded by an abundance of natural wildlife, marine life, flora and fauna, including the endangered red squirrel and Pine Marten, the cottage is a perfect coastal retreat, in which to relax and unwind with family and friends.

Even though it has quite a large boatshed next to it, this cottage has a very special atmosphere (You can barely see the shed once you're inside). The house looks straight over the most tranquil bay and we saw noone near the house either on foot or in a car while we were there. You feel as it fhe whole place is just yours! The house is warm, clean, very prettily presented and has everything you need.

Been a bit of a hectic time at home so needed a relaxing stay. This is just what we got. Lovely cottage and location is what it was all about. To swim in the Loch every morning was a treat. Huugo is a water furry so wonderful time was had by all. Pity we could not stay longer. Thank you for letting us to stay. Ange, Colin and Huugo.

The title says it all, our trip to this wonderful cottage was marvellous, the scenery stunning, amazing wildlife, the cottage beautiful with everything a peaceful holiday needs. Jill and Chris are the most wonderful hosts with lots of fantastic stories, they have helped give our children memories that will last forever, we can't wait for our next visit.

We had a two-night stay as part of a family tour of the area. The cottage was peaceful, clean and comfortable with absolutely stunning views out over the Kyles. It was exceptionally well-stocked with good quality toiletries and kitchen provisions. We also appreciated the bird / squirrel feeder supplies (which the red squirrels also enjoyed). Jill and Chris made us feel very welcome but also respected our privacy. This was a trip down memory lane for me and an introduction to the area for my grown-up daughters, and our stay here was a definite highlight of a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

The location and scenery is truly wonderful. So much to see and with wildlife in abundance we would happily of stayed forever! West Glen was the perfect place for our little family and Boxer Dog and we were out on our boat exploring most days. Property was amazing, some really lovely touches and a great location. Jill & Chris were so kind and helpful allowing us access to all areas. Fantastic for wildlife (red squirrels, pine martens, badgers, herons, gannets and loads of small garden birds to name just a few). Just the place to wind down and relax.

Had amazing weekend at this wonderful property for my husband's 50th The setting was superb - a gem of a place to chill and decompress and just sit with nature. We were lucky enough to spot heron, red squirrels, sea trout, a variety of bird species, a doe and a seal. Just lovely. Unfortunately the pine martens were too elusive. We absolutely hope to return.

We love it here and had a wonderful time as always, it's our favourite holiday. We saw lots of red squirrels, a barn owl ghosting along whilst we were out on our travels, we even saw the otters and caught the pine martens visiting this time! Jill and Chris are brilliant hosts, we love the little touches they make

We were warmly welcomed by Chris and he gave us a short introduction to the house. This has a unique location right on the water and next to a creek. Unfortunately the otter didn't come to wash. But we were able to observe many other animals. The squirrels arrived very quickly once we laid out the nuts that the landlord had kindly provided. It was a great holiday in a very nice house in a nice little town with very friendly people. Always my pleasure.

Very nice stay. Two points, however, need to be mentioned: 1) Difficult access to property. A "small/regular" car would've had a very difficult time traversing it (huge potholes). A comment about accessibility to the property was not mentioned in the advertisement. 2) The water filtration system (UV lamp and filter) has not been checked since 2016... We do have the same system in our estate: the UV lamp is replaced yearly and the plastic filter tank is typically cleaned monthly to bi-monthly basis. The property is beautiful and peaceful surrounded by water and birds!

West Glen is a lovely coastal cottage, right on the waters edge reached along an unpacked road, which adds to the privacy of the cottage. Although the cottage is a traditional building it has been really well modernised with everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. Chris and Jill were super hosts, helping us when our plans changed and providing local knowledge. I’m sure we’ll return.

Such a peaceful and relaxing place! We enjoyed the walks into the village and up to the old harbor and lily pond. Lunch at Five West was delicious! We do hope to return. One thing to note, the last leg of the road is challenging to a low to the ground car.

I arrived rather late at this heavenly property but was greated by a very cheery host. He realised very quickly where my holiday needs were and kept the conversation on track with very helpful suggestions. I need a quiet location in a comfortable place, close to facilities and most importantly in tune with nature. I got this in spades. Right from the visiting red squirrels, a pair of playful sea otters and bird species galore. Thank you so much for allowing me to stay there. It was so, so memorable. I still think about that red throated merganser sitting on the shore without a care in the world.

I can’t imagine a better place if you enjoy beautiful landscapes, nature and complete peace. The cottage is extremely well equipped. Every detail has been thought of. It’s tastefully furnished, comfortable and bright. In my short stay I saw otters, mergansers, loads of red squirrels, herons, lots of other shore birds, the Ocean Youth Trust and the Waverley! Such peace comes at a price! The private road in is a challenge for nervous drivers like me! I’m so glad I never met another vehicle except the post van. The driver kindly reversed for me round several cliff- hanging corners. I couldn’t have done it!

We had four wonderful days exploring the area for gardens and landscape. Every morning we woke up in this delightful house overlooking the Kyles of Bute and every evening we returned to this lovely spot after garden visiting and riding the local ferries. The weather was kind too!

Lovely cottage in lovely area (apart from dirty shower head and shower room taps, and awful pot holed road to property). Not two bathrooms as advertised, but one shower room (no wc) and a wc/whb. On arrival met by the host who informed me in no uncertain terms that my 'pack' of dogs should not be allowed off lead in the grounds at all. This information should have been given when I requested permission to take 3 small dogs along. I live in the country. I am perfectly well aware of the need to protect wildlife. I have 1 dog who is ancient and is a threat to nothing, 1 dog who is scared of his own shadow and would take to his heels at the first sign of another creature, and one I wouldn't be sure of but had a long line with me to keep everything safe. I specifically chose this property because of its rural location to allow my dogs a little space. Why you would tell someone holidaying with 3 dogs, that there are lovely walks but best not to take the dogs with you, is beyond me. Left after one night. My dogs aren't a pack, they are a family. If they aren't welcome, you should say so before you take folks money.

Fantastic, well equiped cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. But it's the location that sets it apart. Right on the loch shore, secluded and peaceful surrounded by woodland and wildlife....we saw red squirels, otters, and a very short glimpse of a pine martin. The surrounding area is spectacular but not overly busy so nice and quiet roads! We had a fantastic time exploring and walking with our two dogs who loved the nearby beaches. All in all a great stay and we'd love to return.
