Very helpful and friendly 24 hour reception staff.
6.0 / 10.0
The size of the room. The bed was comfy. Location was spot on. The kitchen/lounge separate to the bedroom which was separate to the bathroom. The room was warm.
The hot water in the bath ran out before filling the bath to a required level and took ages for the water to get hot again There were only 2 x milk pots. There was nothing in the offering from the photo on the drinks facilities - coffee flavouring, no stock in the Nespresso machine coffee tray. You need a thicker mattress topper as it was obviously it was 2 single beds pushed together due the uncomfortable crease down the middle. The fire exit light in the bedroom was horrible and basically lit up the bedroom green so getting to sleep was difficult. Cups and glasses were not washed and cleaned properly as Nespresso cups had coffee stains and drinking glasses were sticky.

It had space
The coffee machine didn’t work - no one could fix it/give a replacement
The lights kept flickering

Nothing it’s awful shouldn’t even be on booking.com
Awful property probably the worst place we have ever stayed. We work and stay all over the country and this place is terrible shouldn’t even be on booking.com. It’s dirty, in need of a total renovation, smelt awful, didn’t feel safe at all.

Staff were friendly.
The room and the toilet were not clean. The duvet has some urine-like signs, and found that on the last day.
The bed was a combination of two twins beds, so a gap in between made me sleep on just one small twin bed, instead of a king bed.
The price is like for a 4 or even a 5 start hotel, but the service is not comparable to the price.
I communicated the same to hotel management by email, but no reply received.

Decent bed and kitchen facilities
There was nothing to wash dishes, remote broke, no bath as advertised, broken freezer, no towels and poorly stocked for coffee/tea
6.0 / 10.0
It was warm and comfortable with a nice big bed and a good sized tv. The free parking outside was also good.
There were elements of the stay that I didn’t like but it would be wrong to characterise them as being “things I didn’t like about the property”.
When I checked in it transpires that I should have been asked to complete a form choosing breakfast items which would have been delivered to my room. The member of staff forgot to do this , despite me being the only guest checking in at the time. The staff member was warm and friendly just not particularly efficient on that occasion. This meant that when I enquired “where I needed to go for breakfast” that the member of staff in duty then had to explain what had gone wrong. I was time limited and whilst he offered to make things right, I didn’t really have time for that. To be fair to the staff member, he did rustle me up a bag of cereal bars, fruit and biscuits.
The room itself was of a good size and was clean and comfortable although I can’t understand why it is called “42 Apart-Hotel” as to me this implies that it has apartment like qualities which generally means a microwave and the ability to eat in the room. There was nothing like that and it is very much a standard hotel room with a bedroom and a private bathroom. Additionally it advertises itself as having a restaurant which it doesn’t. There is a franchised burger bar adjacent which can be used but it wasn’t clear from the hotel booking page that it wouldn’t be open on a Monday. The blinds may not be to everyone’s liking and I had to move from my original room as they were damaged and inadequate. I also find it annoying when there is no plus socket adjacent to or even near a tea/coffee tray.
There was nothing bathroom whilst clean wasn’t “up to scratch”. There were two things wrong that I noticed.

Location
Room heated till about 25 degrees, tiny window that opens. Smell of drainage. Door lock problematic Pretending there was no other room and reluctantly finding me a fan. When I at check asked if they knew of any place to eat, was told no don’t go around in this area. When in fact just down the road was a great restaurant
Just couldn’t be bothered

Nothing to like
Fridge in the room was absolutely disgusting and had a really bad smell of mould. Blinds broke when trying to close them and ended up repairing them myself. No milk in the room for a brew. Found the towel on the floor behind the bathroom door covered in some sort of human excrement. Booked breakfast at the time of booking only to be told in the morning (quite rudely by the man on reception) there was none for me as I had to request it the night before. I was not told this at the time of checking in. Absolutely disgusted in the whole stay and I have advised my staff to never book here again for any of our engineers

Easy to find Hotel , comfortable bed
Extremely dirty- carpet, damaged walls, shower with “nasty-colourful” silicone.
We paid for Superior Double bed room unfortunately we got wet (????!!!! Why??) room with wavy floor + loose and protruding floorboards/planks in our small hallway!
Supposedly noise proof walls but you will hear just everything = snoring + speaking etc
We change the room as we had some kind of vomit & coffee spilled on the wall ( next to the bed..) but the other room haven’t been better- no light bulb, only one set of towels, extremely dirty carpet and walls

Location was perfect for our theatre trip. Overnight only, but could park off road at property, then could walk to theatre, restaurant & pub. Breakfast (continental) was delivered to room at a time we chose.
Sitting on the bed to eat breakfast wasn’t ideal; would have preferred option to eat at a table, but it was ok for 1 mornings cereal & toast. We had problems with the door lock on our room; both getting in & out. After several minutes of push me/pull you we discovered the knack, but very frustrating when we were meeting friends and were late because we couldn’t get out of the room!

We didn’t have a TV remote when we got in the room but the staff member on desk helped sort that out, the lady who checked us in was spot on, lovely women. And the man who helped with the remote was polite and helpful the room was falling apart for the price you pay. Toilet roll holder was hanging off the sink didn’t drain properly. The room was dusty. It was unbelievably hot in the room as no proper windows id recommend fans. The hotel you can tell is housing people who are bringing the place down not a welcoming feeling with a load of drug users sat in the communal lounge push bikes and all sorts going on outside the building shame really was a lovely place when it first opened up!

Leaving this property. but apart from that there was nothing good about this place whatsoever, and would never ever recommend this place to anyone or stay here again.
Location. The Takeaway next door was noisy and the delivery drivers could look straight into the room, as there were no adequate curtains/blinds at the window, General cleanliness/hygiene of the hotel was non existent.

The room was far to hot it was a small room and so uncomfortable me and my partner had sweat dripping from us every time we was in the room. No aircon. We did appreciate the fan but was just blowing warm air

Breakfast was good, and i was given a free upgrade suite which was great and lots of waters and drinks provided.
View form Window was a little drab but it is in a centre, there were some areas in the bathroom and living space that were in of some attention, but overall was good.

Perfect location for us with good size car park.
The room was a bit hot, the fan wasn’t enough to keep it cool.

Not impressed with our room at all! It smelt bad as soon as we walked in, the shower door handle, bedside table and tv remote were all broken. Bedsheets were dirty, mugs in the kitchen hadn’t been cleaned, the bathroom was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned.

Nice size rooms, lots of facilities in the room
We were there a few weeks earlier and on checkout told them the shower head kept falling from its adjustable rack. Also bedside table bulb had stopped working. We were back in the same room for the second visit and neither had been fixed.
We were staying Friday to Monday and there was no housekeeping. When we checked in we were told there would be none on Saturday but when nothing was done on Sunday the girl at reception just said the manager decided to cancel them as the place wasn’t that busy. I told her that was a bit poor and she said if I had put out the make up room card it would have been done???
The same girl that morning delivered breakfast minus croissants/danishes and melon and said the oven was not working. (Apparently the gas goes out when there’s a wind! Didn’t notice any wind..). When they charge £12 for breakfast, just getting a bit of toast and jam is a bit steep.

Location is excellent for the theatres.
Breakfast served to room was plentiful and fresh.
Lady on check in was very good, I’d booked a twin room but it was a double when we got there, she sorted it out with no fuss.
Plenty of bottled water provided.
I didn’t realise there was a security deposit required , the man next morning had to be promoted to give it us back. He was not interested in any feedback. He was quite rude. Cleaning was not up to standard - the tea tray was filthy as were the mugs. The floor boards in the hallway were loose, as was some boxing in around the toilet - all looked very shabby. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling The windows were open and so high there was no way to reach them. The water is scalding hot. No cold water came out of the taps for teeth cleaning etc.

Nothing
This place was awful the 1st had no windows it was like a prison and it was so hot it was as if you were in a sauna
5.0 / 10.0
Clean and nicely furnished bathroom/shower cabin and comfortable bed. Car park.
It is not an 'aparthotel' – aparthotels have cooking facilities in each room unless explicitly specified otherwise. My room had only a kettle (= cups, tea/coffee/sugar/milk) - no difference from any B&B or hotel. There was a shared kitchen on the upper floor, but I do not agree that this allows the hotel to be called an 'aparthotel'.
The room – they call it 'Double room', n.b. – was extremely small; a person with mobility issues would have found it seriously difficult to squeeze past the bed to the window.
On the ceiling, there was a very bright green light (see the photo), from some sort of a sensor or perhaps an electric switchboard, which completely disturbed my sleep.
Finally, on the day that I booked the room, which was in February, I messaged the hotel asking for a room on the top floor, and they replied, assuring me that this would be arranged. Well, no – I was on the second floor and there were rooms on the third floor.

The room temperature was too high and could not be adjusted. This made for an uncomfortable few days.

Breakfast was good. A little filling though but excellent reception from the staff who tried their best to get me a great deal. Rooms were very spacious and warm. If circumstances prevail, I would definitely love to stay there again.
I just wish they had some laundry facilities. The kitchen for the guests was a little poky and needs an oven. I had some garlic bread but nowhere to heat them.
5.0 / 10.0
Clean, complementary water in the room, breakfast brought to room.
Was made to pay an unexpected deposit of £50 upon arrival and the staff are being incredibly difficult about returning that to me, asking for bank statements to prove that I paid it despite the payment being on their account. I was told the money would be returned the same day I checked out but I am yet to see that returned.

Not really sure there was much to like to be honest we were staying there as had a funeral to go to! Ow and was give 50% discount as heating had broke in our first room
A lot of the things stated on the hotel’s facilities weren’t in the room!
Bathroom smelt of fags! And light in bathroom comes on when you walk in, so middle of the night when you go to the toilet is a bit dazzling! Only one towel given for two people! And light on the fire escape light in room on all night! Gap under the door to hallway!
