Sea View, Thorpeness

What a wonderful property, very homely even though it was large and had a great layout of rooms, which were clean and well equipped. A fantastic location for the beach and for walking.

There was nothing to dislike.

Such an amazing location right on the beach! The perfect home away from home for our large multi-generational family holiday, everyone was happy with a room each and so much to do within walking distance. We would love to return.

No shop in Thorpeness, come prepared!

The house was fantastic...Facilities were excellent. There were 10 of us ladies celebrating a 60th Birthday..It was a great place to stay..& the location was just perfect for us...

We couldn't fault it..

A lovely house in a great location. The house is actually more spacious than it appears in the photos with decent outdoor seating and even a surprise table tennis table! Ideal for a large group (we were one of 6 couples), all of the bedrooms had comfy beds and there are plenty of bathrooms, though not all are en-suite. Showers always had copious amount of hot water and all is very clean. We also made good use of the large, extremely well-equipped kitchen. We walked to Aldeburgh, visited Framlingham, Southwold and Orford but mostly enjoyed the cosy ambience of the house and pretty Thorpeness. We would definitely hope to return.

A Gas BBQ would be better than charcoal! And a small radio perhaps?

Fantastic location with lovely sea and boating lake views. Very comfortable and spacious beds with good quality bedlinen. Great showers and baths, plenty of hot water. Lovely big rooms, most of them with lots of light. Superbly equipped kitchen with plenty of clean utensils, pots, pans, bowls and plates etc. Good size and clean fridge and freezer. Comfy sofas and plenty of them. Loads of books, games and jigsaws for rainy days. Nice outside area at the back which is a bit of a suntrap. Plenty of tv channels with sky box and even some old videos and dvd's. Excellent heating, always warm enough. Never had a problem parking right outside. Lovely and quiet at night. Thorpeness itself is really nice, great beach, fantastic boating lake, cafe and pub. Just lovely to walk around the place. Communication from Aldeburgh cottages was excellent. I accidentally left a polo shirt which they found and posted back to me! Can't recommend them enough, Grace was especially helpful going above and beyond to help me out.

A few things that could be improved. The tv is a little small but not exactly a deal breaker. WiFi is a little slow, again no big deal. In our shower room there was no blind over the window so we felt a bit exposed in the shower and when getting out. There are some stains on a few of the soft furnishings which are a bit off putting but they aren't actually dirty. Some areas could have been cleaned a bit better but most of the stuff that mattered was clean enough. A few of the bedrooms didn't have any wardrobes even though there was space for one. Some of the bedroom furniture is a bit tired, loose knobs, sticking drawers etc. Overall the decorating needs a refresh, looking a bit tired in places but considering the size of the property and great value for money this wasn't a problem.

Fabulous location for the beach & only a short way from a bigger town. The sitting room gave us all room to be together. The kids loved the table tennis table. The dining room allowed us to all eat together.
