About this cottage rental
Situated in a quiet location near Calton Lees, Russian Cottage overlooks acres of farmland surrounded by woodland. As you drive up the tree-lined track, you’ll spot the cottage’s distinctive Russian detailing and rustic exterior.
The Cottage was built following a gift of a model of a Russian Farm to the 6th Duke of Devonshire in 1855 from the brother of Tsar Nicholas of Russia. The Tsar and the 6th Duke had become friends following the Duke's visit to Russia in 1816 when he served as the British Ambassador to the Coronation. An exchange visit in 1844 was planned but unfortunately the Tsar had to cancel his visit. Instead the Duke was sent an intricate model of a Russian farmhouse as a reminder and keepsake, from which came the inspiration to build Russian Cottage.
Dogs are welcomed at a rate of £40 per dog per stay, please advise our reservations team when making your booking that you shall be bringing a dog with you.

Sitting room ith superb views accross the Calton Lees Valley. TV with freesat/DVD, Wi-Fi access and log burning stove.
One double en-suite bedroom and one twin bedroom with separate bathroom.
Large well-equipped kitchen dining room including a dishwasher and microwave.
Separate utility room with washer/dryer.
It is surrounded by its own garden with outdoor furniture.
Please note a maximum of two dogs are allowed in Russian Cottage

This was a long anticipated stay and Russian Cottage lived up to my expectations and plus. My family was equally delighted with the whole package, location, facilities and unexpected little treats. Will be returning soon.

Stunning property in a secluded location. Perfect for a relaxing or romantic getaway. However, there are lots of places to visit and eat within a 30min drive if you want to explore.
