House in Umbria

About this house rental
Unusually for an Umbrian Farm house, the main family room was on the ground floor. The key focal point was the large fireplace which had two bench seats within its structure. Sadly it was severely damaged in the past but we made it a priority while restoring the property.
The largest alteration required was to create a new staircase which we did using a stable at the back of the house which has now given us access from both sides of the house.
Interesting point: The chandelier in the staircase hall was found in a local junkshop and given to us by a close friend. When Hugues’ brother was visiting he let out a scream when he saw it. It transpired to be an almost perfect copy of the one in his favourite painting. The Arnolfini Portrait ( 1434) by the Dutch artist Jan van Eyck.
