Agriturismo Tenuta San Michele

A stunning property with incredible views of Etna and the Mediterranean. Fantastic pool and very nice interiors. We slept well as the bed was so comfortable and the room so dark. It was great to be somewhere special that also (mostly) gets the basics right - see below.

Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, there were two areas in which this property fell short of expectations: 1. No in-room coffee facilities: Given the price point, the absence of a coffee machine felt like a genuine missed opportunity. Rather than enjoying a morning coffee from our terrace overlooking the sea, we had to walk along the short track to the restaurant for an espresso. This was a small but notable inconvenience. 2. Service quality did not match the calibre of the property itself: The staff would benefit from some foundational hospitality training. In the restaurant, a menu was placed on our table without any introduction or explanation of the options, and we were asked if we were ready to order within minutes of sitting down. It was consistently assumed we both wanted wine and the wines served were not routinely described or introduced. We also observed a member of the housekeeping team watching television on their break directly outside the guest accommodation. Small things that together made our stay feel less premium.
