Beach House Acquamarina

We had a very pleasant stay at this apartment. The place is well equipped and had everything we needed, plus some nice extras such as a sun umbrella, lightweight sun loungers, a washing machine, and separate beach towels. The internet connection was fast and reliable, and the self check-in process was very easy thanks to the key box. One of the highlights is definitely the location: Letojanni center is about a 1.5 km walk, which is completely manageable. The beach right in front of the house feels almost private, with very few people around. The balcony offers a stunning, panoramic sea view – truly a great spot to relax.

On the less positive side, the waste separation rules were quite overcomplicated, with a strict schedule for what to dispose of and when, even though the bins were often already overflowing. The lift was not working during our stay; this wasn’t an issue for us, but it could be inconvenient for others as the apartment is on the 4th floor. We were also only informed on the second day that toilet paper should not be flushed, which would have been helpful to know earlier. The building itself feels a bit dated, and the surrounding area reflects a more worn-down Sicilian style, which is quite typical for the region. Overall, however, the apartment itself was absolutely fine and matched expectations.

Il bagno è abbastanza piccolo, c’è tutto quello che serve ma in spazi ristretti. Quando si arriva è piacevole trovare nel frigorifero o nella dispensa della cucina non soltanto una bottiglia d’acqua. In tanti b&b oggigiorno si trova un po’ di tutto per agevolare almeno il primo giorno, poi ognuno è libero di utilizzare o meno.

The view was beautiful, the fact that we could go downstairs and bathe and jump in the sea, again amazing plus.

Finding the property was far more complicated than it needed to be, despite the owner’s extensive collection of photos, videos, and detailed instructions. When we reached out with a few simple clarifying questions, the tone of communication shifted from mildly patronizing to noticeably passive-aggressive. The overall attitude felt more like dealing with an impatient landlord than someone focused on hospitality. If the intention behind all the pre-written messages and extensive materials is to avoid direct interaction with guests, it ultimately comes across as a lack of respect for paying visitors. A clear example: the property has two gates that look almost identical, especially to someone arriving for the first time. Upon check-in, the host directed us to one gate and personally opened it for us. However, after we received the keys, we were apparently expected to use the other gate, something that was never mentioned. It seems the host assumed we would infer this from a video showing how to unlock a gate with the key. Naturally, unaware of this expectation, we tried to re-enter through the same gate we had originally used, only to be met with unnecessary rudeness over what was a simple misunderstanding (their replay was a reply to their video sent the first day with !!!! as message...) for us that was simply an unacceptable response to get after a long day... The attitude changed in the morning but it was just too late. The accommodation itself did not compensate for the negative interactions. The bed was uncomfortable and extremely squeaky, and the oversized pillows were so hard that we ended up using clothes and towels instead. The combination of confusing communication, an unwelcoming attitude, and lack of comfort made us want to leave as soon as possible. Regrettably, I would not recommend this property to anyone seeking a respectful or enjoyable stay.
