Hotel Bardo - Adults Only

Overall on pricing / 100% worth it and great value in off season. Once peak season starts around Christmas I don’t think the massive price jump would be worth it. It’s a beautiful hotel, but unless you plan to spend all your time at the hotel not likely worth spending THAT much on. On location- personally I loved that it was a bit off ththe main path of Tulum centro. It made it extra peaceful and quiet and I would just take a nice walk if I wanted to get coffee, lunch or to shop. I felt extremely safe on the property and it was relaxing to not constantly hear loud music or motor bikes. I like to travel to the noise if I want it, but overall came here to mostly relax and decompress. If you really like to go out for the evening or out to eat or don’t want to spend days at the hotel it may be a little far for you, unless you have a car or rent a motor bike (the hotel staff offered to help with this). Room & amenities positives - the rooms are amazing ! Huge, large beds- great couch for lounging, privacy is wonderful could sit at table outside room or private heated pool without anyone seeing you. The outdoor shower was also perfect since it’s so warm all the time . I had a bit of difficulty controlling the shower temperature one evening and it was scolding hot no matter where I put the dial and even after turning off and on, but the rest of the time worked great. They have massive sliding doors with screens as well and found it really relaxing to sit and read with screen door open early morning or after dark. I tried sitting outside for a while and ended up with 8 bug bites haha so this was a great alternative. Unfortunately my nespresso machine didn’t work great (I think it might have been an issue with the pods or sizing) so I couldn’t have coffee in my room. They keep you well stocked with two large water bottles of filtered water which helped me stay hydrated. If you message them needing a refill they were there within 10 minutes. I only got housecleaning one morning as I usually prefer to not have my things touch ed but I needed toilet paper and towels and hoped they would take my welcome drink from the first night. When I returned I was surprised the cup was still there (they didn’t tell me what to do with it) and so was my room service from night before. A bit odd think they would maybe notify the staff if it’s not their job to take at least. I was out of toilet paper and they just put a wrapped new role on the back of the toilet seat instead of unwrapping and putting on the rolller. Look I am not a snob and I will happily replace my roll, just sharing because it’s a 4 star hotel and the prices are steeeep in a few weeks so you should know everything. The food was incredible I had dinner there 2 nights, breakfast one day and a pool smoothie another: the restaurant staff and other staff I interacted with (Thomas & heeldo at the restaurant (I’m sorry I’m butchering this one) and Maria? Who was cleaning the gym after yoga when I went to workout) were the ultimate highlight for me. They were amazing, kind, and it was fun to practice my Spanish with them. Last few things…. The option for daily yoga/breathing classes outside there in their activity space. I only went to one because I wasn’t feeling well, but it was lovely and this is an amazing free perk. The bike rentals I had read about online which is part of why I booked the place knowing it was a bit of a distance from some of the spots in town ended up being cash only and you had to pay to rent. I don’t feel this was so clear online or on the listing I thought they would be free (again 4 star resort and price) so that surprised me. Overall beautiful facility, solid staff and good relaxing experience. I would likely come back outside of peak season!
