The location was excellent with easy access. Lovely, warm and comfortable rooms. Lots of birdlife, including regular sightings of a Buzzard, as well as Deer. Lovely walks in the area. Only a short distance from the town and a sandy beach. Good 5g mobile signal with EE.
Access to the foreshore through the woods was badly overgrown and difficult to access

This cottage is located on a working farm at the end of a long lane. It is the perfect place for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of life, providing a comfortable retreat from the main villages/towns. There have been no modernisations to this cottage which, for me, is the appeal - comfort without the pressure of worrying about spoiling/damaging something. To the side of the cottage, there is a beautiful wood (magnificent during my stay when bluebells were in full bloom) which can be accessed from the garden and leads down to a small cove - a wonderfully serene spot where I could have idled away many an hour. During my week's stay, I only saw two other people passing through this wood (the owner provided a lock for the gate into the cottage garden so walkers are not able to access the wood this way - kind attention to detail, as someone staring through the window whilst you breakfast would not be ideal). The cottage has three bedrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs. This was great for me, a solo traveler, as I was able to just use the ground floor (the bathroom being located on the ground floor next to the kitchen). The bed was sooooo comfortable and an electric blanket was provided. Heating was provided by convection heaters, together with an open coal/log fire in the main living room - always a welcome feature as I love a 'real' fire! Excellent walks from the cottage and also in the surrounding area. Great cafe and pub in the village : the cafe has cakes to die for and the food at the pub is good (do book a table as it is only small). For those travelling in an EV, there is a brilliant charging station in Wigtown (9 miles away) - it is slightly hidden away but is down a small road next to the Old Bank Bookshop. And there is the added bonus that Wigtown, also known as Scotland's National Book Town, has 17 bookshops where you can while away your time whilst your car charges.
A slightly larger TV would have been preferable - I didn't watch much, but my eyes don't see as well as they used to! There is no wi-fi which for some might be an issue, but I had a signal on my phone so not a problem. Would have been nice to have a couple of garden chairs to sit out and relax, although there is a table with benches.

Very comfortable, loved the forest trail from the garden. Great location for nature lovers.
Was quite cold the night we arrived, but we did arrive in the middle of a storm in February!
