Good but room for improvement

Good location if you have a car. Beautiful grounds, spacious and secluded. Sauna and pool area really great. Rooms really clean and comfortable beds. We did not have a car but Uber was readily available any time. Approx 25 euro to get into Tours.

Let down by small issues like patios not clean, no teatowels, bottle openers, dishwasher tablets or enough towels for everyone. These were rectified the next day when we advised reception but definitely spoilt the experience. This place could be absolutely amazing if the details were focused on.

Cozy Comforts, Gorgeous Setting, and a Pool Worth Coming Back For

We had a wonderful family stay at Domaine de la Commanderie de Ballan, with beautiful grounds for our little ones to explore and fantastic facilities throughout. The kitchen was so well equipped that cozy dinners in were a highlight, along with a delicious charcuterie board and estate wines. Even though rain kept us from enjoying the gorgeous pool, we would definitely come back just for that!

Nothing we didn’t like, but note that you are a drive away from restaurants, so it’s perfect to enjoy the property and cook in or eat out before returning.

Overpriced, understaffed, only there for the money - not for the satisfaction of the client!

There is no breakfast room. Breakfast is available only "in a basket" for 22 euros per person, which seemed excessive for what you got.

The place feels understaffed. Once we had actually found the way in to the Domaine, the reception was, to say the best, terse. The receptionist was clearly only there to collect the money, and indicated nothing to us about the hotel facilities (eg where is the swimming pool, how do we get towels, etc). What we were utterly APPALLED by was that after paying about 500euros for two nights, to be asked for a further 150 euros as a 'deposit' in case we left the room in a poor state. I have never had this in a hotel. This is the ultimate 'no risk'. It left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Disappointed - the Domaine did not live up to our expectations unfortunately.

Beautiful house and lovely pool area Well equipped garden suite

We were not able to enter our room until 5.30pm despite saying we would be arriving early. The large double bed had loose and broken slats on one side. We were overcharged for our charcuterie/cheese plate in the evening. It is a shame that the property does not have a bar.

Useless.it is NOT a hotel it is an airbnb they should not have a 4-star rating. There is no client service whatsover

It’s a beautiful place but I do not understand how they got a 4-star rating. Service and client relation is the most important thing that clients expect when they book a 4-star lodging and these were totally non-existant.

We booked and specifically asked for a parking spot with electric charger to charge our car during the night and be able to continue our road trip the next morning. We were told that this will be taken care of a d that one will be reserved for us. When we arrived, there was no staff on the property and the parking spots with chargers were all taken. The next morning when we complained about it we were told that the owners have priority over two chargers and only two others were available for the clients and that they usually do not reserve these place in advance (!!!). Interesting to know that the owners have priority over their clients and that false promises of reservation are made that ruin your trip the next day. There is no hotline whatsoever. So if you need anything after 8PM you are on your own. It is an airbnb not a hotel. No service no client relation.

Lovely place loads of teething problems. Wouldn’t stay again not worth the cost

The property had amazing grounds and staff were very helpful. Especially with all the issues we had

The air conditioning unit leaked all over the carpet and started dripping through kitchen ceiling. We found loads of hair and stains on the bedding. We complained about this and they said that we could have a free breakfast, but I’ve just checked my card statement and they have charged me. Not impressed. Also no one in the morning to leave key too or speak too.

Beautiful venue

This property has been beautifully decorated and renovated and is made of different types of accommodations from hotel room in the chateau, gite on the ground and converted stable. This is where we stayed and this duplex appartment was comfortable and made with good quality of materials. The swimming pool is beautiful and the nordic bath looks dreamy.

The breakfast provided was made of good local products presented in a beautiful hamper, however it felt expensive as we got charged the same amount for our 3 year old kid as an adult, and at the same time we didn’t get 3 times the amount of breakfast (1 baguette in total, 2 eggs, but 3 yoghurts and pastries…) so it’s a bit confusing and definitely a point to take into consideration as this is more expensive that some other high standard hotels where we stayed at.

A wonderful family rest

A wonderful, understated and calm environment. The place felt peaceful and almost still. The staff were so accommodating of our young children (2 & 6). A lovely relaxing few days after a busy time in Disneyland Paris!

It’s a stunning property in a suburb of Tours - but you’d think you’re a world away. The beautiful lawns set in the middle of a wood make you feel like you’re wrapped in silk and feathers. The pool and the hot tub were particularly enjoyable.

There was work done on the saunas so we couldn’t use them.

Would love to come back any time

Everything was simply perfect! Since the apartment we booked wasn't ready yet (the renovation is still going on), we're upgraded to the villa, which was huge. It has 4 bedrooms and can accomodate up to 11. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. There even was a washing machine. The kitchen is well equipped and allowed us to cook some of our meals. The staff is very nice and attentive. The heated pool was a blast, it was great to cool down there after a day in the area. The park around the property is very beautiful and charming. And in general, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I couldn't recommend this place enough, we really enjoyed our time there P.S. many reviewers complained about renovation works on site. I must admit those didn't bother us at all.

There're really few minor things missing, that are probably a result of a place being completely new (like some hooks here and there, for example) which I believe will be improved with the time.

The location, premises, calm environment, pool and jacuzzi that was available without any charge. And the rooms were excellent, very comfortable beds and pillows, free secure parking. It's great, hope to return one day!!

great place to relax!

it’s a beautiful landhouse on a large premises and surrounded by forrest. there was a lot to do for our family to relax on site. the pool, hot tub, playground, grassy area. the kids were happily exploring the forest and catching frogs.

it doesnt have a restaurant, so you have to go out for dinner. there are a lot of restaurants nearby, but you do need to take the car to get there.
