Beautiful property, a little isolated from the village

This is truly a beautiful property. Because it's guests only, there are always plenty of beach chairs. The decks from each villa offer beautiful views and lots of space. We had a dining table, hammock, and 2 lounge chairs. My understanding is that each unit is individually owned, so I'm sure the decor varies. The staff is great - we especially enjoyed Natalie. She is such a ray of sunshine! We found the property to be extremely quiet, even on days when we knew many people were checking in. That can be a plus or a minus, depending on your desires. We had wonderful massages on the beach. We would absolutely stay here again!

I'm stretching on these, because we really loved the property. I felt the decor and furniture in our villa was a bit dated, and the artwork in the bathroom was a little creepy with a canvas full of faces looking at the toilet and shower. The ceilings in the bedroom and bathroom are vaulted, and the wall between doesn't go to the ceiling, so if you need privacy to "do your business", you might find this setup uncomfortable. The pools aren't heated, and the ocean was slightly warmer. The only bathroom outside is on the far corner of the property behind the bar, so it's easier and faster to go to your villa. A big part of their advertising is that you can have a meal delivered anywhere, but you can only order from your room or a roving server, and they were few and far between, especially if you hang out on the pier. I think I expected a way to call from anywhere.

Chabil Mar Villas were relaxing, luxurious, comfortable, and convenient!

Everything. It was quiet, comfortable, and beautiful. The food was phenomenal, and we loved that you could order it to our villa, the pool, or the beach areas. The food also arrived fairly quickly, which was wonderful. The resort was so comfortable and nice that it almost made it difficult to want to go into town.

The plumbing fixtures were old and seemed to have some issues. The pools could use a good pressure wash and clean, but nothing so bad that prevented us from using them.

Room decor was a bit dated. Water was quite cloudy, so snorkeling from beach not an option.

Beautiful place, wonderful people, amazing experience. We met so many locals that were so friendly.

Loved being on the beach. Loved the proximity to town. Easy access to bikes and golf carts. The staff was incredibly nice. The room was very comfortable.

Rocks on the beach was a bummer, made it difficult to get into the water. The double taxation on each line item for food and beverages was inconvenient.

Passable

The TV did not have Netflix. You had to go to the front office and get a USB drive and select movies from a list, have them downloaded, and then plug the usb up in your room. The USB only worked in the living room and we were unable to watch the movies in the bedroom. The power kept going off. They ran out of golf carts and thus we only were able to secure one for our last day/night.

Great resort for a family

We found the resort to be very comfortable and convenient. The shuttle into the village worked out perfectly for getting out for dinner. The staff was able to book two great tours for us - snorkeling at Laughing Bird Caye and a Monkey River Tour.

The wifi was not reliable in our room.

The people were amazing! I have been a frequent guest at a small boutique hotel in Mexico. This resort experience was beyond my expectations. I will definitely recommend this property as a great, safe and relaxing place to vacation.

Amazing Stay at Chabil Mar

From the moment we were picked up at the airport, we experienced nothing but phenomenal service and attention at Chabil Mar. The accommodations were perfect, sparking clean and spacious. The on-site food service was amazing and delicious. The staff were genuinely nice and so helpful. The grounds were immaculate and we took advantage of the pool, kayaking and even booked an awesome tour through the concierge. We did not want to leave! We got engaged on this trip and are considering getting married at Chabil Mar next summer! I’d give this place 20 stars if possible! We look forward to visiting again!

Beautiful boutique resort

Goregous resort, beautifully appointed villas, friendly and accommodating staff. We felt very pampered and the views from every villa were wonderful. Also loved Placencia - we have stayed at Ambergris Caye and checked out Hopkins but glad we chose Placencia. Small quiet town/village with lots of character but still plenty of activity. San Pedro felt run down by comparison.

Great place to stay and great staff.

The location was perfect. Close enough for convenience, but far enough from Placencia Village to keep the resort a quiet place. Everyone we met on staff was amazing. We were greeted by Nikita who made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Sheldon was great as well. Ferdinand, Deion and Anselmo made sure we were taken care of at the bar, beach/poolside for drinks, meals, kayak, SUP, towels, etc. The concept of not having a restaurant on site actually was perfect. You could order from the extensive menu and have your meal served wherever you liked...beach, pool ,villa, etc. I didn't get the housekeeper's name who attended to our villa, but she did a fantastic job everyday. Without disturbing once, she quietly and efficiently took care of business. We visited several other resorts/restaurants on the peninsula and decided WHEN we return to Placencia, we will stay at Chabil Mar again.
