Mumma's Hostel Cairns

Everything was great, and I really enjoyed my stay. The only shortcoming was that there are not enough toilets available. At one point I had to ask a French-speaking male guest to stop trying to use the women's toilet because the men's toilet was occupied. This happened several times. Adding more toilet facilities or better managing access during busy periods would greatly improve the guest experience.

Beds are outdated and a bit uncomfortable. Bedsheets are not in a white colour so you never know if it is clean and washed at 90 degrees. Towels are also in colour.. also, there are not enough toilets and showers fir that amount of people and there are no windows in the toilets so it smell… rooms are cold because they don’t want mold so they are keeping the AC on… I think there are other ways to get rid of the mold. It doesn’t have to be that cold in the rooms…

When you book on Booking it is noted that you are booking several beds in the same dormitory, but in reality the hostel does not take this into account and separates you into several different rooms. No solution was offered to us, so we asked for a private room instead, for which we had to pay an extra $24 (a more commercial hostel would have probably not charged this amount) The bed in the private room had an old-fashioned, uncomfortable spring mattress. The room itself was not super pretty. We were in a dorm for the last night and the dorm was really good for a cheap hostel
