Mumma's Hostel Cairns

Location is great, only a few minutes walk from the esplanade. Friendly and helpful staff at the desk from 8am until midnight…(extremely helpful!) Kitchen with everything you need. Clean and comfortable throughout. Clear and coherent ‘rules’ that are actually followed by other guests; a general sense of respect for all. As an older traveller I couldn’t have been happier in my time here…would highly recommend.

Simple but cosy hostel. More clean than most hostels and chill respectful vibe. I saw the staff was super good at asking people to keep the low volume after 22:00 and it really worked

The space for drying clothes that cannot go in the drying machine is too small. Everything else was great.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and ideal location.

I didn't like the waiting time to check in. My flight to Cairns was early, I arrived early at 9am and had to sit outside the for hours till 2pm.

When you book on Booking it is noted that you are booking several beds in the same dormitory, but in reality the hostel does not take this into account and separates you into several different rooms. No solution was offered to us, so we asked for a private room instead, for which we had to pay an extra $24 (a more commercial hostel would have probably not charged this amount) The bed in the private room had an old-fashioned, uncomfortable spring mattress. The room itself was not super pretty. We were in a dorm for the last night and the dorm was really good for a cheap hostel
