Podere San Quirico

We really enjoyed our stay. This is a small authentic agritourismo. The location is close to Siena and central to all the areas we wanted to visit. Being a short walk to the village was excellent for dinners out and one night we got supplies from the supermarket for a simple dinner in the garden. Hosts are lovely

Michela and her brother were gracious hosts. Our room in the main house was clean and well ventilated. I was grateful for the screens on the windows so the mosquitos stayed out! The AC was much appreciated for the hot late afternoon. Our bed was comfortable, and had a nice quilt for the cool nights. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Eggs cooked to our taste were offered every morning, along with wonderful fresh fruit that they grow, select meats and cheeses, bread, yogurt, sweet pastries, excellent juices. We did not go away hungry! We had access to a shared refrigerator with our own container for our items. Great idea! The location was a short walk to the town of Castelnuovo Berardenga, for several fabulous restaurants and a CoOp market. Only about 25k to Siena, and a reasonable and beautiful drive to Montalcino and San Quirico d'Orcia. We were given several suggestions for other possible towns for day trips. So hard to choose! The convenience for these kind of day trips make Podere San Quirico the perfect location to "base" out of. There was a swimming pool (not heated) and towels available. I used it as it was hot during our stay. We had a minor medical emergency during our stay, and our hosts were extremely proactive in helping us get the proper care. They called a local doctor, who gave appropriate advice. In this case we had to drive at 8pm on a Sunday night to Emergency Room in Seina. Michela explained the Italian signage to look for as we neared the hospital, so we could make our way there. All worked out just fine. We loved their dogs, and other visitors' dogs! Glad they were welcome here!

I was unaware of use of a safe for valuables. There was no safe in our room. Some of the sun chairs were a bit old and a few not functioning well. The parking is "cramped", so a larger SUV may not fit very well. The seating on the patio was uncomfortable. 2 tables under the awning had the chairs turned up, discouraging use. I would have enjoyed more time sitting outside if it were more inviting.

Swimming pool was a little chilly but the kids still loved playing in it.

The breakfast was excellent, the hosts were friendly and very helpful and the place was very beautiful.
