Les Chalets du Chaberton, Pied de pistes et Spa

Picking up the keys from the hotel was easy, staff was friendly and it was done quickly, with the required explanations given. We could access the slopes (TC Chalvet) from the side of the apartment and the storage locker was heated which allowed the shoes to dry overnight. It was nice to finish the day at the pool/sauna/ jacuzzi (in the next door building, just a few metres away up the road...but we still went in using the bathrobes as jackets!). 3 of the 4 bedrooms have a good size and nice views (2 doubles, 2 twins) and the beds were comfy. It was great that it was equipped for 8 people with nobody having to sleep in the living room. The floor heating means the temperature is nicely even everywhere in the apartment, we liked that too! The kitchen has sufficient large pots and pans (non-stick) to cook, as well as a tart and gratin dish and also an electric raclette/pierrade as well as a fondue set. Coffee lovers enjoyed having the choice of the filter coffee machine or the Nespresso capsules. The dishwasher is very quiet; the fridge is big which meant we could easily store what we had bought in Briancon before arriving. There is a great view on the slopes from the large balcony in the living room and one bedroom, and the other side also has nice views over the Italian side. The apartment is nicely decorated and feels homely. The garage is large once you've gone through the door, which is handy if you want to store stuff there as you can lock it. And what is best is that you can go straight in the lift from there... not getting rain/snow while (un)loading the car.

Although I'm writing a lot of items, these were just minor annoyances and it didn't prevent us from enjoying our stay very much in Chalets Chaberton A302. What was a bit trickier was to find the actual entrance to the garage and the building (building A is actually nr73 of the street), especially having to reverse back out as the remote wasn't working and I had to go back to the Anova hotel reception. The dining table felt a bit crammed for 8 people when putting dishes there too, and the living room didn't have enough comfy chairs/sofa for 8 so we stayed around the dining table on the metal chairs to chat after dinner or play games (nobody was interested in going up to the mezzanine and watch tv on the sofa). The combined oven/microwave oven could benefit from having a quick user guide explaining the various pictogrammes (if there was one, I didn't find it!). Having the hairdryers attached to the walls in the bathrooms was a bit annoying as it meant the bathroom was blocked for longer than was really necessary (we were adult friends, not parents and kids who could have used the bathroom simultaneously), especially since the toilet is in the bathroom upstairs... The locker for the skis has a standard size (independent from the size of the apartment) which meant it was a bit of a tetris game to put all the skis, snowboards and especially the shoes in).

Location great, lovely apartment, modern, spacious, log fire, garage, ski store, well equip and great view onto slope from 2 balconies!! Anova hotel very friendly and helpful and great place for a drink on the terrace after skiing.

Everything about apartment was great only slight issue was that we could not pick keys up from Anova Hotel until 4pm which was a pain as we arrived in resort for 12. That said Anova were great and picked us and luggage up from apartment and took us back to hotel where they stored the luggage until keys available.

The location was great. Near the ski school meet point, easy access to slopes, near supermarket/ restaurant/ ski hire. It was generally clean and well enough equipped to make easy meals. Nice balcony.

The check-in process was not communicated- I thought the confirmation codes would give access or someone would meet us as submitted check-in time request which was accepted. We were left stood outside in -10 with 3 children and luggage. No one answered messages or the phone number given. Eventually someone phoned back and said we had to pick up keys from a hotel 5/10 min walk away- and were very non plussed when I told them what happened. The apartment only had 3 comfy seats in the lounge and a couple of stools (for 6 but states max 8). The bathroom layout is odd. The spa was a big selling point for us. Unfortunately the sauna wasn’t working, the hot tub and relaxation area were cold
