The location overlooking Windermere but nestled in Troutbeck means it benefits from being quieter than the town, set into the hillside looking down on the lake. Particularly lovely to look down onto Windermere with the morning mist laying in the lake at breakfast time.
This YHA has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay - a lounge with sofas to elevate tired legs and a seating area for breakfast and dinner, also acting as the bar for drinks and coffees.
We opted for a single room with a bunkbed which was small but was clean and absolutely comfortable. This is certainly not a gripe!

like it so much. The other tents are a bit far from each other so we had a privacy.
the toilets are far away. Toilets are common and less. It was cold at night and we couldnt use the heater on. We couldnt campfire. The wifi couldnt reach our location.

Staff were friendly
Very far from everywhere so you had to drive to get to anywhere and there’s barely any signal or wifi there
