I specifically booked a room with an accessible bathroom. While the bathroom met the basic dimensional requirements for wheelchair access, the equipment and practical design fell well short of what an independent wheelchair user actually needs. The most significant issue was the lack of appropriate grab rails. The toilet had only an angled grab rail on one side, which made it impossible for me to transfer independently from the toilet back to my wheelchair. I had to ask for assistance, something that should not be necessary in an accessible room. There was also no drop-down grab rail on the opposite side of the toilet, which would have greatly improved both safety and independence. Although a fixed shower chair was provided, I did not attempt to use it. The same lack of properly positioned grab rails existed in the shower area, and the seat itself was small and curved upwards rather than downwards, making it very easy to slip to one side and difficult to use safely. Another major issue was the complete lack of shelving. Wheelchair users often carry medical, support or personal items that need to be placed within easy reach. There were no shelves beside the toilet and none near the wash basin. In fact, the wash basin stood alone without any nearby surface on which to place personal belongings. There was also no hygiene showerhead beside the toilet, making it impossible to carry out personal hygiene independently after use. Despite the bathroom being a wet room, there were no towel rails or hooks available. While towels would obviously not be left hanging during a shower, users still need somewhere to hang bath towels, hand towels and face cloths both before and after showering. The bedroom itself also presented several challenges. The mattress was extremely soft. For many wheelchair users, a firmer mattress makes transferring, dressing, undressing and moving around independently on the bed significantly easier and safer.

The bed was comfortable, staff were helpful and breakfast was nice. It included a selection of bread, pastries, jam, sweet and savoury sandwich toppings.

The wifi in the room didn't work. The room was quite small. The AC didn't really work I.e. while it was on, it was not cooling the room properly.
