About this cottage rental

7 Front Street is a traditional stonebuilt Weardale cottage, one of a small row of cottages in the hamlet of Daddry Shield near Stanhope in the Durham Dales. The cottage comfortably sleeps 4 and affords peaceful rural holidays to couples and small families. The cottage is pet and child friendly and is warm and welcoming with a sitting room with open fire and a kitchen with dining area to the ground floor and a family bathroom with two bedrooms to the first floor: a master bedroom with double bed and a second bedroom with two singles. Guests have access to all parts of the cottage which they are encouraged to enjoy as a home from home throughout their stay. The owner is available by email and mobile phone. A welcome pack is provided for guests. Coal and kindling are also provided and further supplies of these are available from stores in neighbouring villages. Towels and linen are included.

The cottage has outstanding views of Weardale, 'The Undiscovered Dale', from every window and is just a short walk from the river Wear and the Weardale Way. The cottage is equipped with all standard modern conveniences including microwave, fan assisted oven, washer dryer, TV with integral DVD and Freeview, Internet and WiFi and a selection of board games. The cottage is just a short walk from the Weardale villages of St Johns Chapel and Westgate, both of which can offer pubs, shops, a cafe and children's play areas as well as numerous footpaths for ramblers and hillwalkers. Further afield are the historic country towns of Bishop Aukland, Barnard Castle, Hexham and Durham itself. There is a bus stop just outside the cottage and a regular service through Weardale and beyond. There is a designated parking spot just outside and beyond the small front yard and further parking is available at the end of the terrace.
